Chicago post-rock mainstays Tortoise are back with The Catastrophist, their first new album since 2009’s Beacons Of Ancestorship. They announced the record last year with lead single Gesceap,” followed that up earlier this week with their cover of David Essex’s “Rock On” that’s featured on the album, and are now streaming the entire thing. The record was inspired by the jazz community of Chicago, and grew out of a piece commissioned by the city itself, as the band laid out in our recent interview with them. Listen to the record via The Guardian below.
The Catastrophist is out 1/22 via Thrill Jockey.
