ROMP – “Avoiding Boys” (Stereogum Premiere)

“Avoiding Boys” is one of those songs you throw on in the morning to pump you up to conquer the world. When you’re hungover, feeling shitty, riddled with anxiety, “Avoiding Boys” will be there to tell you: “I don’t care what you might say/ This is gonna be a great fucking day.” The second single following “Last Year” from ROMP’s upcoming debut album sees the New Brunswick band oozing with positivity and confidence — Madison Klarer sounds cool, crisp, and decisive: “Last summer I could barely get up/ Nothing was easy,” she reflects in the verses. But not anymore — something’s changed, probably the “avoiding boys” call-to-action of the title. Good advice! Listen below.

Departure From Venus is out 3/4 via Bad Timing Records.
