Last night, the roots-rock badass and former Drive-By Trucker Jason Isbell was the musical guest on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert. With his touring band, he played “If It Takes A Lifetime,” the working-man’s lament that opens Something More Than Free, his great 2015 album. Watching the performance, it’s amazing how casual it all is; it’s almost like something Isbell and his bandmates would do in a living room somewhere. You know Isbell is on a good path when he’s performing on late-night TV and it just doesn’t seem like a big deal. Watch the performance below.
Something More Than Free is out now on Isbell’s own Southeastern Records.
