Japanese Breakfast’s excellent 2016 album Psychopomp was largely inspired by the death of frontwoman Michelle Zauner’s mother. It’s a collection of songs about finding hope in the face of despair. Psychopomp must have made its way to Lena Dunham because the Girls creator invited Zauner on her Women Of The Hour podcast to discuss the album and how she coped with losing her mom.
