After stumbling on to The Twilight Sad’s EP and promptly marking ‘em a Band To Watch, we’ve been hotly anticipating the Glaswegian band’s full-length debut Fourteen Autumns And Fifteen Winters. The first single is also the album’s lead track, and it’s exactly what he hoped for, deftly blending the band’s white-noise shoegaze guitars and its roof-busting emotional ambition. Peter Katis (Interpol, Mercury Rev) mixed the record, and his deft touch balances the feedback segues, slide acoustics, tinkling piano, and crash cymbal tantrums with just enough room for James Graham’s thick Scottish brogue to pierce, charm, and wither. Great stuff.
