Rev up the reverb and put away the digicams: Band Of Horses are back this fall with Sub Pop LP2 Cease To Begin. Returning for production duty is the mighty Phil Ek, who will guide the relocated-to-South-Carolina rockers through the new. Zach Galifianakis hosted the boys recently at Hiro Ballroom (complete with art auction appetizer), where BoH unleashed some relatively straight ahead, punchy tunes to the delight of the Velvet Elvis cocktail-fed crowd. Cease’s being billed as the band’s “southeast record,” though by the artwork, it looks more like it’s their midnight at the waterfront album: same font, crescent moon, majestically dark ‘n’ broody. Graphic designers may enjoy analyzing, though we’re more interested in yer psycho-symbolic assessment.
Cease To Begin is out 10/9 on Sub Pop.
