We got tha same taste in Vince. I'd add "Loca"
Her voice sounds nearly identical to Fiona's on "Deadbody," which is prob why I am obsessed with it
Both are wonderful albums. A bit late to the party, but my personal fav snub is Adrianne Lenker's solo. What an incredible Fall album, esp "What Can You Say." Ahhhh < 3
Congrats! That's great work you're doing. Hope to return to the Bay soon enough.
It's an incredible revelation we're all still reeling from. Like, what in the fuck is the actual connection there? Did LME really copy paste or is he WAYNE DUPREE?! This is amazing
Also I've been so so so so busy, but anyone here going to the Sgum meet up in Dec?!!? I'll be there!!!!!
Saw this bill and immediately thought of you! Show sold out pretty quickly here in Brooklyn, but still gonna try and get tixxxxxxx
Was just gonna say this. Obvs Push > Drake, but this whole "beef" has me feeling bitter towards Push. I'm sorry, but outing a person's undisclosed child and making fun of a person with MS is characteristic shitty behavior and it's a bit gross to see everyone dismissing it bc Push had a cool song.
Once again we have the same sweet spot bb-y
Goddamn he's doing it again. Looking forward to looking out the subway window and zoning the fuck out to this album like I still do with Wakin'.
LOL @ knuckle head wow def gonna start using that more often
Lol u right. I honestly just really wanted to make the Shallow Hal meets Crazy Heart joke
Don’t wanna take away from this discush, but we halfway through the news cycle aaaaaand WHERE IS YHANDI THREAD!? SGUM IS PART OF THE SIMULATION
The praise for this movie is baffling. How is this not going to be absolutely horrendous? I remember way back when seeing the preview for this in theaters and straight up snorting when Gaga says “almost everybody my whole life has said they like the way I sounded but not the way I looked.” Honestly this is just Shallow Hal meets Crazy Heart and it’s kind of gross.
I see that. I think it’s a good (and sad) point that the larger and more important discussion surrounding inappropriate sexual and power dynamics/consent will be obscured by the new album rollout, as evidenced by some of the posts below. I do wish the album would reflect a newfound perspective too.
Great point. You’re right and that’s unfortunate. Interestingly enough, I found the article on p4k before the album was announced, so I was actually able to consume it as a stand-alone reflective piece, that is until the album release was mentioned later in the article.
Good point about the non-profit. Had the same thought and honestly surprised neither Hall or Pelly made that connection....
Damn writing on a phone so thoughts/grammar might be scattered. Goddamn iPhone SE. also I totally respect where you’re coming from, just trying to understand it better
From the article... “She recognized that we’ve honored it (the year break), and has since approved our plan to release an album and play some shows later on this year.” I think this is an important point in the story, that they sought out and received permission to move forward. When I think about it, making music is their job. To continue their job, they made sure the victim was comfortable moving forward. That strikes me as somewhat classy. I guess the question is are we expecting them to not release an album again? Also, imagine if they released an album without Pelly’s piece. That would truly strike me as a horrible move. I feel like they had consent with the victim to continue their job of making music, they have an album to release, and they purposefully coincided the release with an empathic and wonderfully written piece addressing the allegations we’ve all been wondering about. Doesn’t strike me as a PR move, rather more of a contextual piece/clarification surrounding their album
Also I’m not a Pinegrove stan (or really a fan at all to be honest), just someone who’s been interested in/following the situation.
No snark at all, but did you read the piece? The terms of the album rollout were dictated and approved by the victim. On a related note, I don’t think this was a non issue at all, and I feel like it was handled really well by both sides.
Very interesting and emotional read. Recommend checking out the entire piece.
Also new Tim Hecker (leak) is a goddamn blessing
Yeah what? Had NO idea there was a Field album coming out. Here 4 that 4ever
Ian Cohen lol. I’m not afraid to call out names*
Also Room 25 is in my top 10 easy easy. “Regal” is the wonderful world I want to live in.
Wait....how has Tom Waits NOT recorded a version of the Grinch song?
Anyone going to MBV in NYC on Aug 1? Bc I will be there.
Moved east one week ago, but sending all my norcal strength and love your way. I miss the goddamn place so much already.
This guy's a wonder. "Confirmation" is easily in my top 5 songs of the year. I suspect there's a classic album in there somewhere.
YBB., question for ya. I've been listening to this album Music for Saxofone and Bass Guitar by Sam Gendel and Sam Wilkes on repeat today. Do you know these fellas? Do you know this album? It's a beautiful little jazz/ambient record. Highly recommend!
