this just doesn't feel natural to me. something must be wrong with me.
Wow.... I haven't listen to anything since Ágætis byrjun, but I think I may have to check out his discography.
such a positive vibe (children's music) set to an adult theme. A little uncomfortable, but I think I like it.
Haunting the Chapel has cleared up my misconceptions about what heavy metal is doing these days.
Studio magic, nearly impossible to perform on stage. Because of this, it's lost it's charm for me.
Nice little song with resonating keys in the background. I really like the harmonies.
It's so energetic and fun. There's a lot of interesting tones mixed together too.
I'm yet to hear The Crying Light, but maybe it's the most appropriate time to explore his latest sounds because of the Prop 8 thingy.
So much mystery surrounding this project. I'm intrigued.
Really, really interesting. I think i'm a fan after seeing this. Thanks for the post!
Funeral seemed to raw to me. Crown of Love remains my fav because the song builds up to an explosive climax. That's the Arcade Fire I really enjoy. But I also understand that they want to explore and do things a little differently. Power to them. This latest album seems to be less explosive, more repetitive. Maybe less emotion, musically. But lyrically, it's full of emotion. It's just different.
Yeah, i'm a pretty big fan of Michael Jackson playing the guitar.
I maybe the only one, but "Month of May" has been constantly running through my head for almost a week. You can't ctrl-alt-delete/close program an earworm as such.
It's going to take a few listens because it seems he's trying to get a message across, although not clear. The vocals are hidden behind the wall of noise, the songs are longer, it has less build-ups/climaxes than Funeral (which is the reason why Funeral was great). But, it sounds like they carefully crafted each song. They sound much more mature also. You can hear some influences from the late 70s to the Pixies (see Joey Santiago) to modern 1990s alternative rock. They're definitely creating an atmosphere, almost creating a painting in my very eyes. Funeral was Yellow, Neon Bible was Black, and The Suburbs is Red.
I've concluded that anyone who doesn't see this song as one of the greatest songs written this year is a complete moron. Much respect for Robyn and co. by the way, Aaron Del La Douche , you've made a sexist remark.
I really, really like what this band is doing. It's cool that they seem pretty humble.
Beautiful woman. Excellent description of the music too. You guys seem to nail it every time you describe sounds. I'm looking forward in hearing the rest of the album.
Cute little song with a repeating melody. I wish here voice had more character.
the song gets really interesting near the end. i like it.
i like the clean, spacial sound it has. It tickles the ear drums.
Captivating, the first minute. And then he goes into territory he hasn't yet mastered. I do like the overall sound, but he needs to working on make his songwriting even better.
I guess i'm more into how everything sounds than how music was created. I'm sure it was fun for ARP to make "Summer Girl."
I really do wish the best for this band, though something in the back of my mind says this will go nowhere. I just miss the "art" part of Billy's song writing. By the way, my internet explorer hasn't been allowing me to log into the stereogum site for the last 3 weeks. The browser would say something about having an error on the page. It wouldn't bring up the login pop-up window. So I finally downloaded google's chrome and things work for this browser at least.
i can hear that pixies you're talking about. it turned NIN for a little bit too. I like the overall feel.
Wow. We need more of this.
Body Talk 1 is quite amazing, which took me by surprise. I'm intrigued.
you'll sh*t bricks if you look at the picture upside down.
Really cool sound. Makes me wanna buy reverb. I'm excited to hear how they approach writing a complete album.
Explosive with a weird end... kinda like a sample of a song. Nothing terrific, but fresh in a sense.
Huge song. I gotta give this a second listen to something other than these dinky computer speakers. Nice find.
Dreamy. I love it when the band and song titles resembles their theme.
Late for the party. The mp3 isn't streaming anymore.
Rushed and chopped (for tv), but still one of the greatest songs this year. This song was in my head for 1 1/2 months. It was in my kids' heads for 3 months.
It sounds like the soundtrack to something I've dared not to see. It's only catchy because the vocals are off-beat and repeats over and over.
Chock-full of femininity... a little uncomfortable, but it still works.
Music for your average Sega MasterSystem videogame. I find it weird that they're trying to sell this as a different medium: the mp3.
Huge vocals, crazy guitar work. It all sounds like it was recorded on a Tascam 4-track tape recorder, but that's how I prefer my heavy metal.
Exciting song. Thanks for pointing this one out.
Not bad. It sure takes talent to repeat something that long without making it sound too repetitive. Nice soundscapes and build-ups.
