Wow I think this might just be the worst list you guys have done? Not saying that the band has any bad songs but, come on, No "Apartment Story"? One song from Alligator? Nothing from Sad Songs? After reading entries 10 and 9 I was half-convinced that the band's rendition of "The Rains of Castamere" was going to end up being #1.
Not a bad list, but "Goodnight Ladies" will always be my favorite Lou track.
"The Kids" is even worse when you know the story behind it.
Airplanes > Trans > Plans > Photo > Facts > Stairs > Codes
They sound like a demonic version of the Strokes now, very cool.
Did you guys seriously just not put "Last Nite" on a list of the 10 best Strokes songs
I'd probably put Gimme Fiction at third but otherwise this list is decent, if a bit more of a no-brainer than usual. Moonlight and Ga Ga are pretty interchangeable for first as far as I'm concerned.
I can't shake the feeling that "Blue Ocean Floor" is about Timberlake drowning himself
"I'm Not Okay" is still the best music video of all time.
They're great, consistent songwriters and they put on a hell of a show. Fuckin sucks that that registers as "bland" nowadays. Also Matt Berninger is pretty much the best frontman in the game atm.
Fantastic. There's a lot of nice things to be said about how well this list was put together but I'll just that it's clear that a lot of love went into it. I don't necessarily agree with where everything is ranked but it looks pretty decent and you even managed to get the top five right, if not necessarily in the right order.
Yo, quick question? Does JT drown himself at the end of this album?? It sure sounds like it but I can't be sure.
What album did you listen to? T. Rex, Ziggy Stardust and Mott the Hoople were all over that thing.
Lodger predates Scary Monsters though.........
Sooooooo am I the only one who thinks Between the Buttons manages to edge Aftermath and Some Girls out of the top five?
I'd say it'd be much easier to argue that Let It Bleed belongs at #1...
This is a fucking tough one. I can only separate the Stones' albums into tiers, that look something like this. 1. Beggars Banquet / Let It Bleed / Sticky Fingers / Exile on Main Street 2. Aftermath / Between the Buttons / Flowers / Some Girls 3. Out of Our Heads / December's Children / Satanic Majesty 4. Everything Else
Not nearly as good as Heems' "NYC Cops" cover.
This has been the best week ever.
Nothing wrong with having a moral code and sticking to it. Morrissey is definitely a jerk and has some questionable racial attitudes but the demonization of his commitment to his ethics is fucking stupid, tbh.
Yeah, I found this record to be painfully boring the first time I listened to it. Decided to try it again with headphones though and now I can definitely say I think it's a pretty nice little album.
One of the worst write ups on anything I've ever seen on this site. and let's hope Wolf has more to offer than this. "Bimmer" is okay but "Domo 23" is like "Rella" but ten times worse.
Yeah, kinda ridiculous that Meaty Beaty's not on here. This is a good list, though; all I'd change would be switching the positions of Quad and Who's Next. Though I don't think anyone would complain if you put Live at Leeds at #1 either.
"You came to my room, we did some things we knew not to do" yikes
Think we can hold out for a surprise Fall Out Boy performance??
Best Strokes song since Room on Fire.
and fuck you guys, Some Nights was the best mainstream pop album of 2012.
The "Don't you like to have fun?" argument has gotten way too old. Just because you don't like peppy classic rock rewrites about hanging with your buds doesn't mean you "don't like fun." There is more than one way to have fun; what's fun for one person isn't necessarily fun for another. Personally, the most fun listening experience I've had so far this year was with Four Tet's new "0181" release, and that bears a closer resemblance to fucking Burial than it does to this thing.
The more I think about it, the more sure I become that Beck was THE artist of the 90s.
1. Queen 2. S/T 3. Meat 4. Strangeways Pretty cut and dry. Still not entirely sure where I'd place Bombs, but needless to say it'd be towards the top, if not #1.
You're crazy if you don't think "Gangnam Style" had a legitimately good video. Only thing that came close this year was "Bad Girls" tbh.
Oh and Killer Mike's "Reagan" video! But "Big Beast" is on here at least so that's cool too!
Not feelin' Grizzly Bear at #3. Bad Girls, Oblivion, Gangnam Style and Pyramids would've been a flawless top 4 (although come on, we all know PSY deserves that top spot). Disappointed everyone seems to have forgotten about Chairlift's great "Met Before" video too.
My top 5 would probably include Hammersmith Palais Bankrobber Armagideon Time The Magnificent Seven Straight to Hell Sandinista! is probably my favorite Clash album, though I'd admit that London Calling is more perfect. This is an... interesting list to say the least.
Man, song we've talked about all year and no Usher? Is this list an anti-climax or what!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Gotta be Rubber Soul, the most beautiful Beatles record.
Yeah, but who can say "possibility of punk patriotism" five times fast??
Elliott Smith springs to mind as a solo artist who appeared on his album covers without it looking awful.
Damn, I was sure I was gonna get to be the first person to post "Nothing from Squeeze?????"
Switch TKOL with Pablo and In Rainbows with Hail to the Thief and you've got my list.
