This is a really stupid topic to get up in arms about. No one is getting taken advantage of, or being forced to do anything against their will, so I don't see why everybody's so upset at her.
I really do think it's mostly a demographic thing. Younger people are not buying albums much these days. Why would they when they have stuff like Spotify and good, old-fashioned piracy?
She's a fascinating character in the music scene right now. Mostly because of how despised she is. At least I find that interesting; she's done very little other than a little plastic surgery, a painfully average album, and a bad performance on SNL and people are always eager to rip her to sherds. It's interesting.
The video really is beautiful. I really dig the whole JFK/Jackie O in the modern age concept; I thought it was pulled off really well. And how fuckin' cute are those kids, right?
As for the song, I really liked the early incarnation of it, however the version that made it onto "Born to Die" really accentuates how trite some of the lyrics are.
Not to hate on Beyonce, because I really do like most of her stuff, but "Crazy in Love" is not nearly as awesome as mainstream music types would have you believe.
No Santigold? Really? I'm really loving "Master of My Make Believe".
Meanwhile, while I like the new Cloud Nothings well enough, it isn't better than either of their previous albums.
Well, I myself expected to like it anyway (I like Foster the People and Azealia Banks and I don't hate Lana Del Rey the way most folks do). Azealia Banks really pulls this together nicely.
I'm actually really fascinated with this meeting-of-the-minds... well, maybe "fascinated" is a little generous. "Amused" is probably a better word of it.
