When you get out of a shitty day at work and go online, you hope to come across a song that would accually sum up the entire day and become pretty care free of what was shitty from the rest of day because you come across a song like this. Wonderful fucking song and am excited for this to finnally come out High recommend for anyone with ears
Lets not talk about this guy, and talk about why the hell Karen O and Eno are not up for awards any more and are being snubbed by fucking Miley Cyrus.
miley cyrus shouldn't be put up for any nomination at all......ever
I like U2 also but the reason why people ( hipsters) hate them so much is because they are so commercialized. IPOD commercials, Rolling stone Magazines, even south park have talked about U2.... As soon as a band is commercialized that badly and so lamely, then listeners loose intrest. Plus, they will never make a song as good as anything on "Joshua Tree" Like Bill Hicks the comedian said: Once you do a commercial your off the artistic roll call forever.
EVERYONE! What is the Best soundtrack for a movie in the 2000's? aaaaand go....
this is really great If any ones intrested in great albums, listen to " Two way Monologue", great CD
I'm curious to know what the best beef between to stereogum bloggers where, here are some options: 1. It either had to deal with the fight for best album of the year, grizzly bear or animal collective 2. It could of involved Sufjan fans supporting him or dissing him 3. It could just involved a bunch of pissed off indie kids writing way to long of blogs and everyone telling them to get a life If you find one, post it up!!
Does anybody remember that argument that Billy bob Thorton had with this music interviewer, that turn out to be kind a beef. Billy bob didn't want to be questioned about his past acting history and just wanted to talk about his music. Billy Bob Thorton + Music = Fail
I believe Kanye West will be the first human being to try and surgicaly turn his whole body skin into gold
1. Radiohead/Thom yorke 2. Atlas sound/ Deerhunter: Bradford Cox 3. The Dodo's- all their albums 4.Sufjan Stevens 5. Animal Collective/ Panda Bear sorry man, are list are pretty similar but its you hit it right on the head.
Does anybody wish courney love would just get hit by a bus already?
Even radiohead at their worst is still really good. The best we can expect is another album that will take over this decade, check it out: 1990's - OK Computer 2000's- KID A 2010's- ??? This could be a trend guys, and mean we are in for some seriously fucking good music in the next year.
jay retard is really just going to be a fart in the wind any time now, his 15 minutes are almost up and hes running out of people to fight with..... I mean common really, his music is alright, its listenable but it doesn't make up for the way he acts towards other musicians. Plus what does pissing on someone have anything to do with music, that just makes him look fucking RETARDEDDD, does anybody else think this?
Thats what i thought also until i looked at the fact the term hipster apparently means " someone who listens to music that no one knows" and the SNOB is someone thats thinks theyre musical taste are better then everbody. They are both pretty much in the realm of the unappreciated critic so both lose by default
STEREOGUM HIPSTERS vs. STEREOGUM SNOBBS
INTENSE IDEA! What if they made a Merriweather post pavillion SNUGGIE ...just and idea but i would like to be comfy and trippy at the same time
Morning Everyone Since Stereogum is failing on posting anything new, and i'm one of those unlucky bastards that has to work during the holidays, i thought it would be fun to make a new topic.... "TOP 5 Musician or Bands of the 2000's" this does not need to include and album, just a band or musician that defines this decade. IF any body else has any cool ideas, post some up!
YES TO both of your comments, first, bell orchestre has always been overlooked when it comes to list like these and DARK WAS THE NIGHT needs to be on this list because alot of the music on the album was brand new songs from some of everyones favorite artist, not to mention JUSTIN VERNON(BON IVER) constibuted 2 great tracks to it.
good list man, i think alot would agree yours is suited for everyone! and not just the staff of whoever is making a f-ing list. One thing though, should i seriously try and force myself to listen to fever ray........i listen like to the album 3 times, and stillllll i do not get it....but alot of my friends love that album. Music advise please??
Buy a Hipster any " Creed" or "Nickelback" shirt and tell them they have to wear it to a Animal collective concert.
what was the last album you made.......don't be a snob, sure no one cares what the fuck you say.
They should make a top records of 2009 eight ball, would settle all arguments everyone has been having. .......What is the best record of 2009! ............damn, not Dirty Projectors again!!
Will someone please PLEASE explain why the hell everyone is refering everything to Hipster now? I have heard that term everywhere and it makes no sense what so ever. hahahahaha the urban dictonary refers to it as: " Someone who listens to band that no one has ever heard of" Nevermind then.....haha
If this was 2001 then i would agree with you. read the top again buddy....
DELTA SPIRIT will take 2010 for sure If they make more songs like "Children" and " House Built for 2" I'll probably bust a nut from listening enjoyment, its call "Musicasm"
Really wish this would of been a more popular blog...but not to many pay attention to things that require's thinking O by the way if the new radiohead album comes out next year, i put $100 bucks on one of the songs being about global climate Good article, thanks
someone did but it should be said again, and again.
Probably 2010, the way that they record is ussually a pretty long process but as soon as all of its mastered, they wanna get that shit out fast. I mean they did it last time, gave like a weeks notice for releasing " In Rainbows" if i'm correct. Still, new radiohead makes any year a good year, so go 2010!
Hello everyone, i'm writing from the hospital....let me explain. After seeing that U2 got song of the year and album of the year, i found my self jumping out the nearest window.... Lets remember that U2 has not made a decent album since the interenet exsisted, picking Greenday in the top 5 makes me want to stick my head in a bear trap....for real. Rolling stone needs to roll of this planet, today...last time i looked at one of the magazines they had lady gaga. Thats not fucking music is people on laptops making random already organized beats for some numnut singer that sings about poker. rolling stone has not been cool since fucking Nirvana holy shit i just noticed Miley Cyrus has #4 song of 2009............I rest my case, excuse me while i go beat myself with a tac-hammer
Thank you for reminding me on how good that album is, i'm going to listen to that album right now
1.Antlers should of been in the top 10, that album is great. 2. The Dodo's got snubbed horribly this year, most over looked album this year. 3. And Agreed with the other comment on Andrew Bird, should be on this list
ooo sorry man, didn't mean to reply with that, that comment was meant for something else but agreed, TV on the Radio first LP should be on the top 10, i still listen to it
One of the most underrated bands of all time " The Frames"
dude i like what your saying but thats alot of words...
I would really like some new broken social scene
That is a good point, I can't argue with that. For me, i miss the element of suprise you know, like the first time i picked up "Kid A" at the record store and put it in my Cd Player, listening to it it in its entirety, but its tough not wanting to listen to the song when its right in front of you.
coldplay is awesome but i stopped reading your comment after american idiot. Do you know how many times i had to listen Boulevard Of Broken Dreams , i swear i'd stick my hand in a meat grinder next time i hear that song. wait wait wait......."Rankings should be based on sales and popularity and innovation in creating sounds that defined the decade. "FAIL Comment, You said Rap gets to much credit but what was the music of the decade....RAP. You need to check the website your on and understand that this is ALL MUSIC CONSIDERED and not everything just based on radio play.
I thought "All for the Best" cover that Thom Yorke did was great this year but I know it doesn't count for 2009 since it is a cover...but thought i'd point that out.
