Huge Badu fan here with a few points:
1. Wildly disappointed this is an apple exclusive for the next week. We've waited long enough and proprietary releases only drive illegal downloads. Give the music back to the people girl.
2. That being said, DatPiff has it to stream and just Wow.
3. Love the reunion with 3stacks but she's the story here. She's always been an artist first expressing herself as a musician and 5 years without a release is bubbling over. I'm so happy this isn't a disappointment and already ready for her to drop a new full length.
4. I gotta get my butt to Dallas to check out the 1-woman show
Hanging seen her twice this summer,I can say this quickly jumps toward the top of my list of highly anticipated releases for the rest of 2015 (It's a pretty long list)
new music from Joanna Newsom is the only thing that can cure the anticipating-vacation-but-stuck-at-work-on-a-Monday-in-August blues.
October can't come soon enough
I switched from Spotify premium to Google Play a couple months ago and pretty much couldn't be happier.
First and foremost, when artists go exclusive to Tidal, Apple, etc., they seem to forget about Google Play. I have access to Prince's catalog, Bjork's Vulnicura (not on Spotify when I was there, may have changed), and my entire computer library of cloud uploads (Beatles, Joann Newsome, T-Swift, local punk bands too cool for streaming, etc).
Second, the YouTube integration is seamless and a great option when listening via Google Chrome, to show the video as connected
Third, Last.FM integration because I need to track all of my listening statistics back from 2005 but I think that is available for just about all of them
Finally, while I decline to use the radio or mood-specific playlists (don't tell me what to listen to dammit!), they've kindly suggested some solid albums that I otherwise might have missed (Sorority Noise, Meek Mill, Kacey Musgraves).
If anything could make me switch over to apple tho, its WRTJ and the promise of El-P and Killer Mike straight kicking it for an hour every week....
