I yeah seriously, I saw a dude comment on instagram "If you were holding that in front of me, you'd have 3 minutes max before I tear it out of your hands." I feel the exact same, what idiot blocks people's view like that? People paying top dollar to have an idiot hold a sign in your face.
I'd be fine with "Stereogum's 10 Favourite _____ Songs" or "Our 10 Favourite ____ Songs", neither of which are convoluted titles and surely the site would have no problem taking responsibility for the opinions therein when they choose to publish it.
They should have played either "Negative Creep" or "School" with Channing on drums and Dave singing.
Yeah, it feels handed to her and undeserved because she has a few huge singles. Whether she has felt the trickle-down influence of Nirvana from the past 20+ years, i think they could have done much better and I think Chad on drums and Dave singing for a song would have been cool + more respectful to Kurt and his legacy. Also, having someone who was at least alive during Nirvana's heyday would have made more sense (I myself was barely so, but I feel like putting up a 16 year old with them is just silly). Also her whole twitchy live thing is annoying and over done, the complete opposite of Kurt's ethos.
3 new disks, of what? demos? garbage remixes? I dl'ed an SP discography years back and regretted it immediately because of all the random side shit, the super boring and droning remixes and different versions.
This is a very Urban-Outfitters song. I want to rip out my ears, the lower case s p a c e d out name is infuriating too. "can we change the channel 'cause i'm bored" That's how I feel about the song.
I don't know why anyone really cares about the RHF it just isn't a relevant institution to us today, although, I guess that's by design, seeing as it essentially just collects artist who were popular and important to a generation past. However within the canon of the Hall of Fame, I don't think it makes sense for Beyonce to be inducted, whether she is an influential and relevant artist or not. There is nothing rock n' roll about her music in anyway, not even in a spiritual sense, she is a 100% pop artist through and through, which is in no way a slander, but it is a fact. But I guess a lot of even the "rock" artists that are inducted don't share that either, so instead they become inducted based on aesthetic choices (2 guitars, bass, drums, vocals..) and not the rebellious ethos that defined rock from it's inception. It's a weird institution.
"I Can be your little Dairy Queen" Was that possibly the worst lyric I can think that that I've heard this year? Yes.
Also, Ryan Hemsworth won best electronic album for "Guilt Trips"
"It all start in 1985" "Hello" "Hello" "Hello" "Hello" This is a massive achievement in the comics medium.
I love the song, but I'm not a fan of the production, its not as punchy and slick as their stuff usually is (and less bass). It's a great sequel to year of the tiger, which I must admit I prefer to this instalment, but "Year of the Dragon" is still excellent.
Why do people do this? Share every damn track before release, it completely kills all the excitement of a release for me.
I fucking hate full pre release album streams. I hate this god damn trend so much. RELEASE AN ALBUM ON ITS RELEASE DATE. This ruins the entire process, especially in cases where the hype has been super built up (i.e. R.A.M., the full album stream was super anti-climatic after the long hype campaign.) This needs to stop. I'm not against streaming, but the pre release stuff is so stupid.
Random unrelated question, since when does spin own Stereogum? did spin buy buzzmedia? :O oh boy
I have to agree he makes a point, hip-hop is not rock! I guess the hall of fame is just celebrating artists that were akin in the sense of attitude etc. IDK. Seems to me though, the Hall of Fame is trying super hard to be even minutely relevant to anyone. Whatever.
That dude looks exactly like Johny Marr and is playing a Jaguar.
Yeah really, when I export stuff myself it ends up being like 200mbs a song, and I have no doubt that my file sizes would be miniscule compared to a lot of professional musicians. With PONO you can store a whole ep!
If you make music your self you can definitely tell, its in the hihats and reverb tails, I usually export my stuff in 92khz but when i occasionally use 192, it is a massive difference for me, but soundcloud compresses it to fuck anyway.
And put some real cashola into Senor Young's pockets eh? Get that economy started!
I also suppose they could argue that they get true flac full-quality files when they have direct access to the source. Whatever though, I'm satisfied with MP3 320kbps, MP3 is the format for the people, no time for that white collar conservative PONO
If you buy the exclusive PONO (R) (C) TM headphones for $1000
Yeah escpecially since they are just selling you flac files, not a new format...... just a player and over priced music, might as well buy the player and torrent all your music in flac. Also Young leaves out yet again other formats like .wav which are also super hi-quality. Mr. Moneyman Young.
The whole point is that APPLE devices and smart phones, etc. dont support the highest quality audio, i.e. iPods and iPhones only support AAC files and .MP3 files for audio.
Every time they bring up digital music no one ever mentions .WAV files which can be 192khz, I'm willing to be that they are simply using a version of .WAV. Lossless audio has existed for a long time, .flac anyone? The only thing different is having this portable device to support it, which I don't really see as being innovative or something that many people will buy into. I myself would love having higher quality portable music but theres no way I'm paying 400$ for this device.
Despite seeing all the love for this band all over this site and the comment sections, I had never actually listened to a song by The Men until I watched it, perhaps it was due to lazyiness, but DAMN, I am copping this album immediately, then working myself backward through their catalogue. Thx guys, http://drgotthelf.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/068-How-to-Keep-a-Healthy-Smile.jpg
This sounds like mid 2000's era Eminem..... dude is not a good singer.
I'm surprised they didn't put an Oasis song at the top because they post about the Gallaghers 24/7
I'm ready to die. (After they play, maybe, if they are good live.)
YES. Living in Montreal next year, is getting more and more appealing.
wow, can't believe I missed this song earlier, definitely going to pick this up when its out
Zaytoven is such a shitty producer, his shit is flat as fuck, so fucking boring. Migos are grating and annoying as usual. I don't give a fuck, this is basic shit.
I just don't think the beat is very good, Future is decent, but this is just another track, I'm just honest.
I love it, but it sounds a little too much like "Guess I'm Doing Fine" from Sea Change, not that I have a problem with it, but I worry that he's repeating himself.
