It might not be for artists backed by a label, I have no knowledge of that, but for unsigned and smaller acts using one of the services, or aggregators, to get their music on Spotify it sure is: https://www.spotify.com/se/work-with-us/labels/aggregators/
That's my big issue with Spotify, you have to pay an annual fee to keep your tracks there. Obscure stuff cost the artists or the labels too much to keep on there in the end.
Makes me think of that canadian reggae song... Rude? (AND THAT SONG IS JUST AWESOME DUDE! /subconscious me) No, I'm pretty sure I don't like this, Everything Everything.
AND WHERE IS MIKAL CRONIN???? This list SUCKS! http://images.rapgenius.com/33ffeccbf4b87241e918257cc8e7f110.200x150x98.gif
Yes indeed, no Thee Oh Sees? Really? That's gotta be criminal.

I saw Thee Oh Sees twice at the Primavera festival in Barcelona. The first time, at the festival site, was awesome. The second time, at the closing party on a club, was a top 10 gig ever for me. And, boy, have I seen shit, last time I checked I was way past 40 years and there I was, in Spain, effing ecstatic. I never saw the previous version of Thee Oh Sees but I have a hard time believing they could've rocked more. This new edition, with two drummers, kicks all the asses all the time.
Don't forget to add Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" and make it playable on an iPod.
Pro tip from that: "In your iPod, make a “Feel Better” playlist that includes songs that work for you. Try to choose positive, uplifting songs that you can sing along to. “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz works for me every time."
If not, here's what I found on the subject through googling: http://tinybuddha.com/blog/10-ways-to-turn-around-a-bad-day-in-10-minutes-or-less/
If the #1 song of the year won't cheer you up I don't know what will. https://soundcloud.com/castle-face-1/thee-oh-sees-turned-out Hope this day turns around for you.
You're welcome :-) , red more here: http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/musik/rockbjornen/article20957760.ab
I still think some kind of "pay what you want (starting at X bucks a month) and the artists YOU are actually listening to get to share that money"-service is the key to achieving a monopoly. A small one time fee for artists for every uploaded song, a percentage goes to the company providing the service. Of course, marketing of artists on the service will also help finance it. Someone should create that, how hard can it be? Pretty effing hard, yes, but monopoly, right? :)
One thing that's not that great about Spotify is that it's kind of hard for really small bands to get their music on there. If you don't have a record company backing you, to add your music you'll have to pay an annual fee to one of the many companies offering a "get your music on spotify"-service. So, yes, Apple (and perhaps Tidal, though I seriously doubt that) might be on to something, the streaming service that in the end gets the support of the DIY scene and combines that with a gigantic database of music, will probably dominate the market in a couple of years.
Haha, it was the young one, whatever that means. :) I'm blaming it on the sun, the late hours and me and my friends constantly calling him that instead of Booker as a lame joke all through the festival.
No. You're right about it being a great festival but the 5 best moments? Not so much. I guess that's pretty subjective though. :) My best moment was this: The Hotelier, not really close to being one of my fave bands, played at the same time as Belle & Sebastian, Sleater-Kinney and Pefume Genius. For some reason I decided to go all in for the underdog, though in doing that I actually caught a couple of songs by the others as well. Which really just emphasized how correct my choice was. The Hotelier delivered what I was hoping for, a performance that was for real. Playing music like it cared, both for them and for the audience. It was blood when so much else just was Heineken. Just what I needed after what I thought was a lackluster performance by one of my actual favourite bands, The New Pornographers (really, you're not giving more of a shit than to perform a whole show with the sunglasses on when the sun is behind the stage...) Other great moments: Benjamin Button taking on the security guards at one of the pre-shows, Mark Kozelek being in a great mood, Mikal Cronin and his band just crushing it, Mac DeMarco being Mac DeMarco, Thee Oh Sees sounding awesome, Foxygen - in a good way: wtf was that? Also, the weather was pretty nice. Tonight's after party with Thee Oh Sees AND Fucked Up playing at the Apolo club might qualify for that list also, we'll see...
So good! "Turned Out Light" might be song of the year for me.
The clip is private? Probably because that guy blue himself...
No comments here? Must be because everyone passed out at the magnificence of this, right? Because that was a perfect performance of one of this year's best songs.
This is what I'd like: an app, kind of like last.fm, that keeps track of what I'm listening to on all my digital devices in every music player regardless of format and pays the artists royalties according to it. The monthly fee? Optional. I'd be willing to pay $100 a month for that. Someone maybe just wants or has the economy to pay $5, so be it. 5% goes to the company distrubing the funds, artists join at no cost. I actually think this would work and it would really benefit the lesser known artists. How do we make this happen?
Liked their last album and this, wow, it's awesome! It's like a catchy, bombastic version of Deerhoof. Music for people with short attention span rules.
Me and one of the song writers have mutual friends and are on a meet-on-the-street-say-"hi-what's-up"-basis so I really hope this becomes a huge summer hit because he's a nice guy. That said, I really don't hear this song being all that Stereogum makes it out to be. I think it's pretty bland.
HEY! Ya'll stop whining about the size and just use ctrl and - (minus) if you think everything's too big, okay? I know that won't work on your smartphone but is it really a problem there though?
Shouldn't we also put the blame on Faith No More? I used to be a big fan, still like Angel Dust and the earlier stuff, but in my opinion they're kind of responsible for nu metal existing at all. Which made them REALLY hard to like during the nu metal era.

I just want to add here that Ty Segall performing Feel @ Conan is the best TV performance of the year, probably of the decade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O99Id3Iq2fw
That sounded better than on the record, didn't it?
Yikes. And I can't even organize my bills.
Next up: "Radio One Rescores: Manos - Hands of Fate"
BTW again, when checking wikipedia for the 100% true facts regarding the One videos, I learned about this thing: http://www.stereogum.com/3926/new_bank_of_america_video_one/video/comment-page-1/#comment-339870
I don't think that's the Corbijn-directed video you've linked to, even though it says so. The Corbijn one (One, hehe) featured trabants and wasn't a total disaster like the one (One, hehe) in the link. The Corbijn one (On... okay, that's probably enough, right?) doesn't seem to be on youtube but you can catch a glimpse of it at around 2:40 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ojGy7AjKeE. BTW, I'm not a big U2 fan but I remember liking the first video they made for this, yes the Corbijn One, and was bummed when they replaced it with the buffalo One which I think is kind of dull. The third One, the One in the link, I can't recall that I've seen before but it's really not much to remember. Let's go Rangers!
While we wait it's always this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YgLrAxe0Dk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Meowstro_Sings_%E2%80%93_Guster%27s_Keep_It_Together
Yeah, that's Comic Sans for further comic effect. Brilliant, I know.
http://i.imgur.com/0haYVVv.jpg Am I doing this wrong?
This will clearly piss off Moz and we can expect a rant in 3, 2, 1...
Am I the only one thinking that it might have done them really good to hang out with Ozma?
