La Dispute - "Stay Happy There"

Like Ceremony and Touche Amore before them, the Grand Rapids, Michigan band La Dispute are a band of self-serious post-hardcore expressionists who built a ground-up audience at a time when the indie press tends to ignore bands like those. (And yes, we at Stereogum are just about as guilty of this as anyone else.) But they’re a great band, and their forthcoming third album Rooms Of A House seems like a good place for many of us to stop sleeping on them. Early track “Stay Happy There” is a fired-up sprint that abruptly switches up tempos but never loses focus. Listen to it below.

Rooms Of A House is out 3/18 on the band’s own Better Living label.

  1. You know those movie theaters where you sit in your car? This sounds like being at one of those.

I think this is the perfect time for La Dispute to click with a wider audience. Hope so, at least.

  3. After pushing some negativity out of my head, I must say that like all the band’s Tom mentions above, La Dispute deserves some added praise and ears more so than the ton of other emo-core / post-hardcore bands springing up on the daily.
