Broken Bells – “Holding On For Life (Baio Remix)”

By Tom Breihan / February 3, 2014

Keep up, if you can, with all the side-project stuff happening in this post. Broken Bells, if they can still be called a side project, are the side-project duo of Shins frontman James Mercer and producer-to-the-stars Danger Mouse. Meanwhile, for his own side project, Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio DJs and produces lush, tropical dance music as Baio. Baio, in a heartening act of side-project solidarity, has remixed “Holding On For Life,” the recent Broken Bells single, turning it from crisp, shiny dance-pop into woozy, psychedelic dance-pop. Baio has also posted a 41-minute DJ mix and announced a short tour, his first since releasing last year’s Mira EP. Listen to the remix and the mix below, and check out those tour dates.

Those dates:

2/05 – Washington, DC @ U Street Music Hall (with John Talabot)
2/06 – Montreal, QC – Societe Des Arts Technologique (with John Talabot)
2/07 – Denver, CO @ Bar Standard (Denver Disco)
2/08 – New York, NY @ Cameo Gallery

Broken Bells’ new album After The Disco is out 2/4 on Columbia. Meanwhile, the Mira EP is out now on Future Classic.
