Kelis - Food

Kelis was the Neptunes’ original star collaborator, and she’s spent a decade and a half on the bleeding edge of R&B and dance-pop. Last year, she released “Call On Me,” a single that TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek produced. And Sitek has since signed on to produce all of Food, Kelis’s forthcoming album. “Rumble,” the latest Sitek collaboration that Kelis has shared, is a stately old-school soul-music groove. Its warm, organic instrumentation is nothing new, but it’s new for Kelis; it’s interesting to hear her singing over something other than spaceship blips. Listen below.

  1. FYI, the video on the page you linked to no longer works, and it looks like “Call On Me” is now going by the title “Jerk Ribs” anyways.

  2. Didn’t think I’d every be happy about someone leaving dance pop behind but this really suits her. I’m interested to hear more
