In the grand buildup to Ultravolence, Lana Del Rey told a reporter “I wish I was dead already” — causing no small stir — and an obsession with old-fashioned showbiz glamor has always been a huge part of her aesthetic. So today’s news that she’ll play a pair of shows next month at Hollywood Forever Cemetery is wonderfully on the nose. The cemetery has a number of concerts coming up by artists including Andy Stott, David Bazan, and Hiss Golden Messenger, and Spoon played there last month in support of They Want My Soul. But nobody seems like a better fit for this particular venue than Lana Del Rey. The shows are going down Friday 10/17 and Saturday 10/18. Fan club pre-sale begins Thursday 9/24 at 7 p.m. PDT, with public onsale this Saturday 9/27 at noon PDT, for both the Friday and Saturday shows.
