George Lewis, Jr., who records as Twin Shadow, has always seemed a bit too smooth and sexed-up for the indie universe, and now he’s about to break out of it. Lewis will release Eclipse, his first-ever major-label album, next week. And the songs he’s already shared have been sharper and cleaner and bigger than anything he’s released up until now. Nobody really has any idea what’s going to catch on anymore, but Lewis these days is sounding like some beautiful unholy combination of Morrissey, Phil Collins, and Bobby Brown. Don’t be surprised if he gets huge. We’ve already posted his songs “To The Top,” “Turn Me Up,” and “I’m Ready.” And right now, you can stream all of Eclipse at NPR.
Eclipse is out 3/17 on Warner Bros.
