Years after they became what-is-happening-here viral stars, it still feels extremely strange to see South African rave-rap freaky-freaks Die Antwoord on American television. And yet there they were on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, doing musical-guest duties and even getting a chance to take over the outdoor festival stage that’s usually reserved for bigger guests. Die Antwoord have hinted that their new album Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid will be their last, but introducing them last night, a hoarse Kimmel said that they would not be breaking up. Who knows! In any case, the group gave one of the most spazzed-out, high-energy TV performances in recent memory, with Yo-Landi Vi$$er lip-syncing “Banana Brain” from Ninja’s shoulders and Ninja diving into the crowd. Die Antwoord may not be the deepest artistic endeavor, but they do know how to grab a moment. Watch the performance below.
Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid is out now.
