It's funny, even when you take this statement at completely face value and believe everything he says he still comes off like a hypocrite. He just cares about the legality, not the immorality. Which is rich coming from Bono...
I was at an event the day after with over a hundred thousand people in Amsterdam around me. You could feel a mixture of nerves and resoluteness (if that's the right word) in the air. It was uncanny but quite beautiful at the same time. People won't let themselves be scared, I've never been more sure of that my entire life
This was a powerful statement and although it's easy to forget she too is way too young to be going through anything like this. I hope she takes the time to sort herself out before she starts touring again, I can't fathom the impact this must have on an artist when performing that first show again
Yeah that makes sense. I don't necessarily think that's the main reason but I get your line of thinking. The whole thing is saddening really, I wonder how crazy it must be to be the other member of prw bttm right now
In this case, if these allegations do turn out to be false, yes they should totally have made a public statement. You can argue morality and all that but they make a consumer product which means public opinion is massively important if they ever want to have a career again
They're trying to set up a means of communication via an supposedly independent third party. Sure you can't know if that third party is actually independent but if they can't instigate anything they can't respond at all. All this does is showing a willingness to communicate discretely and make sure there's a second witness to every interaction. They've put thought into it at least, nothing else they can do in this situation
Right. I mean everyone would like everything free all of the time but the world doesn't work like that. This is a totally fair way of putting up new incentives for premium users and it also puts the choice in the hands of the labels and artists. Ofcourse I am a premium user so this doesn't effect me at all, which makes the approval that much easier.
They've done this bofore haven't they, way back in the beginning? I remember some albums, among others the Kings of Leon one where they went all mopey (it had Cornerstone on it I think) and a Coldplay album only being available for Premium subscribers for a while. Maybe it was only in Europe but it definitely happened.
I had a dream this week that I was touring high schools with Father John Misty and he was putting on a haunted house show that traumatised everyone. He was very nice about it but seemed oblivious to the fact he was scarring these kids for life. I really don't know what to do with this but I can't get this dream out of my head.
If this means a new destroyer is on its way, I'm totally fine. This album doesn't have a banger like "war on the east coast" but it makes from some good listening nontheless
Haha, yeah i live there so i know. It's par for the course for artists to visit coffeeshops but it's unbelievable for someone with his experience to overdo it
I think his act works best in small doses. I really like a Ross verse when he just comes in, says some stupidly grandiose shit and peaces out. That track he did with Gunplay I think is the best example of that. Too much of that good thing and it gets a litlle tiring
Seems like the takes are becoming a little too if you ask me. With the amount of albums these rappers throw out there you really can't start signaling every mediocre one as proof of decline and every good one as proof of a rise.
Nice, always really happy with a new Marling album and this is snuck up on me. Short Movie was really undersold last year I thought, a great album with some fan-fucking-tastic songs. I still play Gurdjeff's Daughter regularly. Can't wait to dive into this one
Huge promotional opportunity, I doubt she'll make much from the performance itself. I'm more interested in the going rate for John Wayne references in 2017, I really doubt those click with the kids nowadays
Considering there's quite a few musicians on stereogum I'm now just picturing any musician with the same first name. My personal favourite is Anthony atm.
Seriously though, someone should delete that comment, that's unsollicited personal information that douche is throwing out there.
