It's ok. Obviously your mileage may vary, but she used to pile hooks on hooks on hooks, whereas a lot of the post-"Never Really Over" singles feel unfinished (this included).
"Wind On Tin" is still one of my favorite songs of the year! "Sorceress" as a whole has a great lonesome desperado vibe that's perfect for isolated quarantine walks.
I like the little quicksand-related shoutouts to other Dave Meyers vids like "Get Ur Freak On" and "Lose Control." Definitely makes me want a Kenny/Missy/Dave visual album!
It's pretty good! In a lot of ways, it's a return to the sonics of "Born to Die" with more evolved songwriting. She's engaging with the same iconography as always because of course she is, but it's slightly more politically complicated and disillusioned. Obviously not some great lyrical, zeitgesty masterpiece, but a really solid work from a really solid artist. I'm gonna enjoy sitting with this one thoughout the weekend.
