Talib Kweli on Fallon

The forever-sincere backpack-rap vet Talib Kweli is old buddies with the Roots, so anytime he’s got new music coming out, it’s a fair bet he’ll end up on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, with the band backing him up. Kweli’s new album Prisoner Of Conscious is out soon, so last night, he was on Fallon with the Roots, rapping the languid love song “Come Here.” Miguel sings on the original, but he wasn’t around to join Kweli, so Bilal, the astral-soul impressionist and conscious-rap hookman, filled in beautifully. Watch the performance below.

Prisoner Of Conscious is out 5/7 on Javotti/EMI/Capitol. Check also the Curren$y/Kendrick Lamar collab “Push Thru.”

  1. I love at 4 min mark “Simmer down, simmer down, simmer down”… reference to Mos Def. So awesome. Great performance. Roots are such a good backing band. It always blows my mind.
