9) New Pornographers - Whiteout Conditions
10) LCD Soundsystem - American Dream
This definitely make me appreciate, and maybe even like, the song a lot more. Well done. Still kinda wishing we had freaky weird guitar shredding Annie, but also interested to see her career move forward
Quite an interesting order. I dont really get the arguments for twin cinema being that low. I dont think it really has any "filler." I always loved Challengers though so glad to see it get love when it was shit on when it came out by the other site. My personal favorite list:
TC
Challengers
Electric
Mass
Brill
Together
It just doesn't sound much like as a st vincent song to me. The chorus is more lorde/taylor than annie, and I don't want st vincent to be lorde or taylor swift or a pop musician. As I feared mr antonoff has not had a great influence on ms clark, for my tastes at least.
Agreed. There are varying ideologies. It's an open forum and so some shit is definitely terrible, but its like saying everyone from alabama is a racist asshole.
I understand what you're saying to some degree, because there are lines between what is playful and what is forced, but if you can't disguish those/be attetive to someone responsibly, you shouldn't be having sex. Honestly if there is ever any level of perceived uncomfort on the other end during a sexual interaction, you have to stop what youre doing. Pushing through something like that is obvious and "not knowing" you've done something sounds like playing dumb. I'm tired of people using "I didn't know" as an excuse. If you're an adult then you know.
"There are people who have violated others' consent and do not know."
So...Ben or others probably/might have violated people and just doesn't know? How would you not? Pretty odd sentence there.
The neon indian one sounds like the Zora's domain theme from OoT, especially toward the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUyqvUG0ypA I'm diggin' it all so far
sky blue sky is normally a little under rated imo, the blue rock nels cline pulls off is pretty great. heres my order for kicks:
yhf
summerteeth
being there
a ghost is born
sky blue sky
the whole love
wilco
star wars
am
schmilco
I think people are forgetting the fact that this isn't the album version, just a live version recorded for the video. I'd expect less restraint on the recorded version
a lot of the time, it feels they take the opposite take of this site just for the sake of it. maybe its bc they tend to get their reviews out later, but feels like they are just trying to go against an already established take on a release then actually have an opinion of their own. but thats kinda always been their "thing" i guess. pretty dumb
Sounds like "flashbacks" or long-term hallucinations induced from former drug use like the ones matt mcconaughey's true dectitive character Rust had during that show. Never could figure out if that was based on any real scientific fact, like if people actually get those, but if they do thats maybe what happened to our dude Scott here
honestly how dare pitchfork give this album a 7.4 alongside all the droves of other "ok/good" albums they review. i dont normally care about numbers but its stupid to stay this album is not a cut above the rest. fuck that noise.
I finished half a fifth of whiskey in my excitement as lcd banged out all my friends at lolla this past summer. felt great and terrible at the same time
My love for this band feels irrational in a way this tab videos sorta get at: at the core they're just simple songs anyone could play, but I like them a lot anyway
And with that im convinced the new spoon album will probably be my personal favorite record of the year yet again (its been happening since gimmie fiction when I discovered them, and yes even during the transference year: the production/recording of that album is so great imo and the songs are underrated)
I really have liked everything out from that cyhsy record so far especially. Also no thank you's was great. This vagabon album is a stunner, great pick.
I really like it. Is all of it (especially some lyrics) 100% defendable? No, but its pretty interesting musically and I'm glad he tried some new stuff. Not a very hot take, but the album merits about that for me. I liked swing low better.
