its kinda funny bc i was convinced tyler or earl would come out as the biggest stars of this group from the beginning, but frank pulled off the r&b thing that become ridiculously popular. I think his collection of records is probably better than either earl's or tyler's though, so it's probably deserved.
I never really get why its gauche or obnoxious to quote important thinkers from history. They are seemingly well-known for a reason, and if its applied appropriately the quote or paraphrase may go a long way toward making a point (considering how often these people are better thinkers than the person in question).
Totally off-topic, but is that a recent pic of sufjan? If so, how is that dude 40? Either the Christian thing is a front and he sold his soul to satan or im gonna start praying to his god
Was just about to cooy pasta the same line, couldnt agree more.
This album has often taken the place as my favorite all timer, super happy to seesuch a warm write up here.
same actually, plasticities is an all-timer for me. just was saying in general people may rate those a little lower than some that were already mentioned. although this also doesn't apply to the menomena album for me
undercard is pretty disappointing too though. seems like all the bigger summer fests are missing the mark for me this year. previously had more than 50% interest in most of them.
Even more notables for me (maybe one tier lower than those above): Menomena's Friend or Foe, The Shins's Wincing the Night Away, White Stripes's Icky Thump, Tough Alliance's A New Chance, Yeasayer's All Hour Cymbals, Voxtrot's S/t, Modest Mouse's We Were Dead, Les Savy Fav's Lets Stay Friend's, Frightened Rabbit's Sing the Greys, Iron & Wine's Sheperd's Dog, Andrew Bird's Armchair Apocrypha, Avett Bros Emotionalism, Dino Jr's Beyond. Alright 2000s "indie" music circle jerk complete
Any love out there for Series of Sneaks or am I the only one who thinks that one starts their run of greatness one before Girls Can Tell? That album kills for me
The album should have been stripped down and acoustic like this. The songs really shine here, some of the production hurt the songs in studio a little.
Im 25, and these have been two of my favorite records (honestly) since I was 17. I get the reputation that comes with them, but these are classics for me.
Maybe my favorite work of art, music or otherwise, I've ever enjoyed. Countless hours spent listening and reading the lyrics along with the recording. Thanks for the slice of beauty, Joanna.
getting your picture taken 100 times in a row like that with random people giving you directions looks like the most stress-inducing thing I can imagine. congrats for getting through that one, grims
I disagree, he is wrong. Obviously rap is strong, but there are still plenty of people saying insightful things in rock and pop e.g. pup, grimes, kkb, st vincent etc etc.
This is quite the pairing for me covering one of my oldest influences. Legit could have dreamed this happening at some point. I like to think I willed it into existence
Halloween parties are one of those social you-must-have-fun-on-this-night things much like new years, so my vote for scariest is actually matt ponds, bc it reminded me of that and now im scared. Personal rating: 👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
