this is the kind of thing my mom is definitely going to watch so I hope Kanye makes a good impression and I can remind her Hey remember u liked that Power song?
in 2008 Kanye shot a Curb-inspired pilot with Larry Charles for HBO but it was 'deemed too hardcore'. a clip from it apparently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFLzBB7NCrA
'Hey Tom I know you're great at soloing but do u mind just tootling along in the background on this one?' also these lyrics+vocals are some next level Pablo Dylan shit
I watched you're the worst too pal, and while i get your point, i think you get what i was saying. that's who he chose, we might not like it, but they've got kids. he's written great songs about his affection for her and them. at some point, let's just get over it?
Sure, except you don't choose who u love. If you look into it at all they seem to have a pretty adorable relationship and family. I think the kardashian hate is kind of a 2000s relic. have you seen the new vogue interview or KUWTK lately? Kanye can't act to save his life. His face shows exactly what he's feeling. that's what I mean by sincere, and thats why Tom needs to apologize/chill
"He fell to his knees, performatively crying. He made humility a part of his look-at-me photo op" .... can we get Tom Breihan outta here for this? I know no one is giving Ye the benefit of the doubt anymore but I really don't get the impression he's this manipulative mastermind pulling the strings on an image rehab? Part of why a lot of people love Kanye is his sincerity. I think he's just doing what feels good to him. Bring on Yahndi
Anyone else eemember when Courtney wrote personal, interesting lyrics that didn't just come off as generic/recycled rock cliches? Hoping that Courtney makes a return soon
i think it's actually worth watching the video version. Berry's childish tone, mannerisms and interactions with the crowd elevate the performance into something like performance art. The 11 minute thing, that's almost proto-Deerhunter playing My Sharona over and over. Berry knows he's only doing it to get a reaction and he's getting a devilish kick out of it. Doesn't make it a good song but, it's a compelling moment. 7/10 for me with the vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaEC-lWSlmI
Forgive me but, what's the news here - did he play any new songs? Old classics? Cover anything notable? Isn't that the kind of info we actually care about?
"We only bash him because we know what he is capable of"
I mean cool that's one way to see it, but I get the feeling this Swiderski and others are really just bashing to bash which is more what i'm reacting to. Just bashing for the sake of letting out angry feelings that may or may not even be about kanye!
I'm hangin bro, good vibes 2 u 2
Possible context: during the Yanhdi rollout Kanye livestreamed an actually pretty cool freestyle from a makeshift dome-studio in Uganda. This setup probably would have been interesting! That said, Kanye needs to start releasing music vids again
many of those lines are awesome though. Christian/listen, heaven-sent/president, cmon. Kanye's verses on ghost town and violent crimes this year were some of my fave of his catalogue. i don't think the lyrics in Kanye songs can really be graded on the same rubric as other artists. recently they're more punchlines in a standup act. the downside of that is they can tend to get a bit cringe as time goes on - 'klondike/blonde dike' for example
anyway how dare u
There's one song Rivers has played live that's supposedly on this album too called Cardigan Disaster. Hope it shows up soon (and doesnt get ruined by production) because it's much better song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSzVmL7ptn8
Self-effacing post about how my band Meanlife put out our first song this month and it'd be pretty sweet if anyone here likes it (IYL the zombies, smog, the rentals) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6VlOpsgRAE
