how much of modern culture is really 'into' Jesus right now though? I don't get the impression Kanye being big into religion rn is a calculated move, if anything it's likely to continue to push more of his original fans away. Personally I'm not into Jesus at all but I'm still cautiously pumped for JIK
If Kanye had never supported trump, Ye would just be seen as another great album. all those songs are good
this cycle has been pretty brutal but the delay is still up in the air from what i've read. ps, reminder that Ye's made some of his best ever songs recently (and a few of the leaked Yahndi tracks were jams) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQC8COGQ4BM
Agree for sure on the cool direction/editing/music, for me those solid craft elements were all the more frustrating for the fact that they didn't really add up to anything in the end. It felt like 90 mins of HD-bubbly-wine-pouring and cash-counting closeups. There wasn't any there there. Maybe I'm a downer but I was hoping for some subversion or insight or something
Idler Wheel was amazing, looking forward to anything new from her. On another note, I'm not sure what is the opening paragraph of this article trying to convey PS re: Hustlers - the critical love from every direction is shocking. "It's goodfellas but by women!" - um sure, but they didn't bother with any of the things that made Goodfellas actually a good movie. Cardi B and Lizzo were just fully stunt cameos and added nothing besides a 5-second chuckle. Some of the acting and the cinematography was nice! Criminal was used in an okay way! But it blew. Anyone?
I def get that. The expressions on Colbert and Paul's faces as they let that joke hang in the air speak to my interpretation though imo. it seemed to have occurred to them after it was said at least. I'm not saying CANCEL PAUL lol, just makin notes
lol, I am yes. and I'm usually not the first to call out things like that but I mean, what else do you take from his comment there?
" He mentioned that the movie Yesterday was “a pretty good plug.” " was not expecting Paul to drop the truest review I've read of that pamphlet of a movie "Easy lyrics?" is that.. vaguely racist? or just old guy humor
that was surprisingly emotional. you want is darker was great, looking forward to more like this
much like the ugly, abrasive sounds of Black Angel's Death Song?
Clairol is the headache medication I take after listening to more than 2 Clairo songs
he also drops Assange's name right into the chorus at 2:50 "wish you were here... Julian" - lol
sup guys, my band MEANLIFE put out our first album a few days ago! IYL the unicorns, silver jews, costello, oasis https://open.spotify.com/album/5c33zvrnnsgxDrbBEpEJHs https://meanlife.bandcamp.com/album/bad-vibes-in-the-womb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbSUaEOSICo
Surprised myself by liking I Forgot That You Existed, but the parts where she goes from normal singing to this talky, 'sarcastic' voice threaten to kill the song for me. This isn't a podcast, just sing!
https://www.thefader.com/2019/08/13/mitski-issues-statement-denying-completely-false-child-sex-abuse-allegations i mean yea seems pretty ridiculous, but this is stereogum, a story's a story?
so, we're just not gonna talk about the Mitski thing?

but what does David Berman think of Billie Eilish?
"People do anything to be involved in everything Inclusion is a hell of a drug"
>I don't care so much that I wrote this paragraph about not caring this song sounds pretty great so far. chorus melody with the twinkly piano feels new for him. lyrics are cute
that's true, though im not sure about the connection there - besides the fact that trump was in the famous video too lol @OppositionalGaze, i hear that POV as well. I guess I fall into the part of the audience that enjoys aggressively bitchy pieces of art. I wouldn't want Pinkerton to disappear because it might've made that Japanese girl uncomfortable? i get your example, but it's a bit different considering the content of the song was actually about her too. it's a full artistic statement (dumb or not, the song slaps), not just a random shot thrown in the dark. Definitely tricky though
re: taylor VS Kanye, there's a big difference between visual art (tasteful or not) and 'revenge porn'. her use of that term fits into a trend i've been noticing of people blowing up their (generally) minor online dramas into 'cyber bully' 'cyber harassment', 'revenge porn' scandals. She probably has been wronged here in some way, but exaggerating it so hard to fit under the umbrella of that hot-button phrase muddies the ethics for everyone
The prosecutor also said Holder was heard saying to Hussle: “So you’ve never snitched?” or “Haven’t you snitched?” Alt response lines probably invented but not used by the laywers: 'Have we all not snitched at some point, my dear Nipsy?' 'You have some nerve here Mr Hussle, I know for a fact you've snitched yourself also!' 'Snitch? How dare you say that in this currently cordial conversation!'
this is fully a mumford and sons song. it's weird to even think of noel as someone used to 'rock'. liam's single has a solid sound and hook but feels just as empty. first 3 oasis albums + b sides still slay though

"What’s with all the handsome grandsons In these rock band magazines? What have they done with the fat ones? The bald and the goateed?"
Ha, I quoted this line too in my final philosophy essay back in high school Time is a game only children play well -David Berman, 2005, philosopher Man is most nearly himself when he achieves the seriousness of a child at play. — Heraclitus, 500 BCE, philosopher
Hey, should we bother mic'ing Pete's guitar? Na, it'll be fine
New Berman looks startlingly like Brando in that new footage!? This song's pretty great. Looks like they used the film footage from the SJ's last show in the cave, still hope they put that out someday
