Pluralone - I Don't Feel Well is out this Friday as well. Apparently the dude who fronts Pluralone and Dot Hacker was also the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009-2019… But don’t hold that against him! His own bands’ music is better than RHCP, nothing alike it at all really, would have never guessed he had any connection to them. If you’ve liked anything I recommended previously, check them both out.
Oh I thought The Antlers returned with their first new song in 6 years this week and it was great. Must have been a dream... Damn, knew it was too good to be true
Not a bad pick! I missed their original run, so I don't know how they're generally regarded, but to me I'd say underrated. I never really hear or see them mentioned, but in 2010 I discovered their whole discography and loved it, still do. And I was also like "oh it's been 2 years since their last album, next one is probably on the way soon!" Uh, guess not.
Finally! First The Antlers, now Small Black making long overdue returns! Both of their previous albums were on my own personal Top 10 of their respective years (2014 and 2015) so, yeah, I like them a lot. Now I'm just waiting to hear new Menomena, French Kicks, or White Rabbits... any time now, boys.
So, is it just me or is it weird the other site never reviewed the latest Oh Sees album? They've never skipped one, in all their forms and different names, until now. That's weird right? They skip a dickload of (what I think is) great "indie rock" because they just can't review EVERYTHING I get it, but Oh Sees are an institution at this point. Very strange for them to snub their latest, which I actually like a lot more than the previous couple.
Best use of sax in any "indie rock" I've ever heard. And "Coronado" is a Top 10 Deerhunter track, maybe even Top 5, maybe even Top 1. And it's definitely the penultimate track to end all penultimate tracks.

But can I think that, and also think this Fat White Family guy is a piece of shit and I probably definitely agree with Talbot's sentiments even though the songs they're communicated in are cheesy and can fuck off?
As a guy who likes his random shuffle playlists, I concur. A lot of these songs will fit right in listening to back-to-back with other stuff across the board in a way that "If You Need To, Keep Time On Me" just didn't. But that's a great song, and Crack-Up as a personal Top 10 of 2017 for me. And Shore prob will be for 2020. Fleet Foxes can do no wrong!
I'll give it a spin, but the last full album I liked/loved from JD and crew was Mutilator Defeated at Last. Literally a couple songs each from Entrances/Exits, and then nothin' since then. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the direction they went in around there just didn't gel with me. And I'm obviously a big fan (HELLO! MY AVATAR!). Anybody else feel the same way and missin' that Carrion Crawler-Floating Coffin era?
No article on Spoon being almost finished on their new (10th!) LP due out early next year??? And if it weren't for stupid Covid, it would probably have been out this Fall... Well, one more reason to look forward to 2021 I guess. New president AND a new Spoon album, works for me!
That's it! Flasher too. I need more time but if I sift through all my "indie rock" songs in my library (over 13,000 and counting) I can probably find a dozen or so similar bands they remind me of. Not in a rip-offy way, mind you.

I don’t know how or why The Other Site reviewed it (even though it was the very bottom review of the 4 new reviews posted, and a solid but not amazing 7.5) when they ignore sooOooOOoo much similar stuff, but that’s why I still check them daily out of habit, for just such an occasion. It’s a really great debut, probably gonna be one of my Top 10 of the year. Just one listen through the 90-second clip previews of each song and I purchased it. Black sheep boy Band to Watch! Check’em outtttt
