Speaking of "actual harmful behavior," aren't you forgetting that time she assaulted someone? http://www.tmz.com/2015/09/22/azealia-banks-flight-homophobic-slur-delta-video/ No, not that time. I meant the time she assaulted a security guard. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-juice/6760579/azealia-banks-criminal-battery-investigation-security-guard-lapd No, no, no...the other time she assaulted a security guard. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/6812937/azealia-banks-arrested-attacking-security-guard-report To be fair, it is possible one or all of the people she assaulted were music industry misogynists who think there should only be one female rapper at a time. I wasn't there.
He did rap over a Donkey Kong Country 2 sample that one time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27Qd5dKYgUw
I think that's where we disagree: If someone is rapping a song, and especially when someone is rapping a song live on stage at the artist's request, I attribute whatever comes out of their mouth to whomever wrote the song. But I hear what you're saying. Can we at least agree that, knowing that word comes up four times within the first 30 seconds of that song, Kendrick a) shouldn't have brought her on stage in the first place, or b) should've leaned in her ear real quick and been like, "Just don't rap the n-word, alright? Cool"?
And Tom could convey the full meaning of the song by writing "n***a" instead, but he writes it without the asterisks regularly. If she can't rap the word, shouldn't Tom have to use asterisks?
All snark aside, I'm genuinely interested to know why you think it's okay for a white music journalist to use the word when quoting rap lyrics in an article—I think it is—and why it wasn't okay for that white girl to rap the word on stage as part of a song Kendrick asked her to help him perform—I think it was. Aren't both examples of a white person using the word when quoting someone else's lyrics?
Would that this comment gets the upvotes it deserves.
My wife once suggested "Asher" as a possible baby name, and then I had to explain why I yelled "NO." before she even finished her sentence.
June 28, 2009 (three days after Michael Jackson's death) Don Lemon: CNN is live on the red carpet at the BET Awards and so is the father of Michael Jackson. Joe Jackson joins us here tonight. How you doing, sir, how's the family holding up? Joe: I'm great. My family's doing pretty good. Don: Yeah? Joe: Yes, they are. Don: Uh, you wanna tell...the last couple of days, I know, it's been really tough for you guys... Joe: And...? Yeah, it has. It has been really tough. Remember: We just lost the biggest star in the world...superstar in the world, so...it's been tough. ... Don: How is Mrs. Jackson? Joe: She's fine, thank you. Don: Umm...is there anything you would like to share with the world about your son and about his legacy or...? Joe: Yeah, I wanna...gotta statement here...give me the statement here... Publicist: "Our family sincerely thanks all of you around the world for your love and support during our time of grief. Our beloved son Michael Jackson loved you all. Michael's children are our first priority. We will have further announcements to discuss our plans going forward. Until such time, however, we have the personal and legal authority to act and solely Katherine and I have authority for our son and his children. We wish to handle his memory and legacy with dignity, and the attorney for the Jacksons is Londell McMillan, and no one else has authority to speak on behalf of the Jackson family at this time." Don: Thank you very much for that. ... Joe: This is Marshall here... Don: How is, uh...you said your wife is...what about Janet and the rest of the family, the daughters...? Joe: They're all doing fine. But I wanna make this statement. This is a real good statement here. Marshall and I...have a thing: We owned a record company called...tell him. Marshall: Ranch Records. It's distributed by Blu-ray...technology. And that's his next step. Don: And that's your next step.

Four years ago some jazz bro wrote an article about how little most music criticism focuses on the music itself... https://www.thedailybeast.com/music-criticism-has-degenerated-into-lifestyle-reporting ...and you can tell from The Other Site's response that it really, really got to them: https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/278-music-criticism-is-not-lifestyle-reporting-a-response/

Did anyone else love Moonlight as a film but have their immersion shattered because the three actors who played the main character look absolutely nothing like each other?
DM'd you some stuff on Twitter. You got this, fam. https://media.giphy.com/media/xSM46ernAUN3y/giphy.gif
I just realized I can't talk gear without sounding like the Stevie Ray Vaughan guy playing too loud in every single Guitar Center so I'm gonna stop myself now.
I use tinypic: Upload the image, then copy and paste the “Direct Link for Layouts” link that ends in .jpg. Works every time.
All through multiple Metal Zones.
Your seething contempt for YBB is one of my favorite Stereogum comment subgenres.
Thanks! I still love the Shoe Gazer and use it all the time. The Cathedral is fun, but I mostly use it for reverse reverb and need to mess around with it ahead of time if I'm trying anything else. Boss did such a great job with that DM-2 reissue—has an 800ms mode now, too. Same for Digitech with the Whammy, which was a pain in the ass before when it wasn't true bypass and couldn't handle chords. Love that compressor—have never been dissatisfied with anything Keeley makes. He modded that Ibanez AD9, too, but I don't think he mods pedals anymore. :-(
I've got two Pedal Power 2s underneath, which have all isolated outputs. The NS-2 up in the corner handles everything else.
I had the same plugs as you until I lost one at a show, which made the other one useless. I have cheaper ones without the filters—always “total block,” in other words—which are fine, but I need to invest in ACS again.
