Chicago was legit great from 1969 through around 1973-74.
should read: "spidery BASS guitar line." As for the song, this one has been forgotten to the annals of history for a reason. 3/10.
That was really fucking good! Miss the Lips making weird, catchy pop songs. I know The Terror has its fans. I can even get into about half of Embryonic. But they're at their best taking simple songs and putting their slant on them.
Unrelated to this song, the Faith No More song "The Morning After" on The Real Thing is completely bad ass.
Yeah that shit's a 6 at best and that's being generous.
At the risk of sounding like an old man I'll say that in light of today's climate of mass shootings and gun violence, it would be nice if we could move on from stylizing a guy with a shotgun shooting a bunch of people. Clearly this was meant to be sort of comical but it still rubs me the wrong way.
It's April 8th. Cancelling a performance on May 2nd because you are currently recovering from the flu is a little ridiculous. Granted I'm not 70 years old, so perhaps these things take longer than what I'm used to.
Someone brought up this "bisexual lighting" thing on another post a week or two ago. Now I see it everywhere.
It's like everyone wants to ignore that Rostam's solo album wasn't boring as hell. I think it's a pretty clear case of the sum being greater than the parts, and both Rostom and Ezra bring out the the best in one another.
My love for that movie is unconditional.
"I Can Dream About You" is great. Definitely a 7 or higher. Plus it's on the Streets of Fire soundtrack which is fucking masterpiece.
I don't think a lyric video is the best idea for these guys.
I thought it was Jonah Hill at first.
I like this song, but man that album art is horrible.
This is a great song. 8/10, maybe 9.
Those shows are the fucking worst. I swear Disney channel is intent on turning all of our kids into the worst, shallowest, bratty humans possible. Fucking Suite Life with Zack and Cody. That said, iCarly was awesome. 10 years olds need more shows like that.
This comes across as snarky and I should state this. If you're a parent and it makes you happy that your kid loves so-and-so young artist, and after hearing it all the time and learning all the words you start to get into it as well, there's nothing wrong with that. Several years ago, my kids listened to that Black Eyed Peas album The E.N.D. that had like 10 hits you know on it. I developed a genuine like for that album. I get why everyone hates on it, but it's better than you think. At least Fergie and will.i.am have brainwashed me into thinking so.
Lots of moms live vicariously though their young kids. I can't tell you how many mom's I've seen hype up going to see Taylor Swift or One Direction on Facebook.
I'm Gen X and don't think I've ever heard it.
Downvoters are wrong. I like King Gizzard. "Rattlesnake" could zip along it's motorik beat for 10 minutes and it would be for the better. But when you write a silly pop song you don't just repeat the same thing for 6 minutes.
That went on about 2 minutes longer than it needed to.
This song sucks and even without the MJ baggage, it's unlistenable.
Yes, Foo Fighters were pretty big from the start. "I'll Stick Around", "Big Me," and those early singles were all over alternative rock radio and MTV at the time. The weren't near as big early on as they evolved into, but they were definitely will known due to Dave Grohl.
Can't blame them. "Gold on the Ceiling" made them a lot more money than "10 AM Automatic." I love their first 3 albums and Brothers is pretty good too.
Great album. "Logical Song" and "Take the Long Way Home" are a little tired after years of classic rock radio overplay, but that album is loaded with great songs. I love the title track, "Goodbye Stranger", "Just Another Nervous Wreck", and "Child of Vision."
You're right, Deerhunter are cowboys now. Who else am I missing?
Cardi B's on her knees in that thumbnail pic.
The verse chords somehow are ripping off "Whiter Shade of Pale." There's a chord in there that really jumps out. I actually really like the verses. The chorus is cringey due to the terrible lyrics. And the bridge is a compete mess that goes on and on and keeps getting worse.
I loved it. Really loved it. When Majical Cloudz's "Downtown" comes on mid-season, along with the scene that accompanies it, you will either fall in love and ball your eyes out, or think it's the dumbest thing on tv. If you don't like that scene, quit right there.
Michelle Malone is a name from the past. Never would've thought I'd see her mentioned on Stereogum. Love the old school Atlanta mentions in this article.
The whole "believe the victim" phenomenon is fairly new. 2-3 years ago and "innocent until proven guilty" was a much more accepted norm. Also, I don't think many people believe MJ was innocent. I do think that a lot of people just accept that it happened but also love his music. Plus he's dead so that makes it easier. If he were still alive I think the public would have a much different view of him today.
That Nilsson documentary is streaming on Amazon Prime and it's well worth your 90 minutes. He was an interesting dude.
"Jump Into the Fire" anticipated London Calling era Clash by 8 years.
skipping today although the 5 is too generous. I agree with your 3. Tues 10 from Tom, 8 for me Wed 8 from Tom, 10 from me Thur 4 from Tom, 4 from me Fri 7 from Tom, 2 from me. Friday will be interesting
I'm no Post Malone fan, but the dude had a huge year and deserved to be celebrated at the Grammy's. He deserved better than get get 1 minute of "Rockstar" and then be forced to play backup guitar for another terrible RHCP song who are generously 20 years past their prime. No wonder Arianna told them to fuck off.
Don't remember if it was mentioned back when it hit #6 in 1964, but "How Sweet it is (To Be Loved By You)" is also a 10.
