I was going to say that I think it perhaps is one of their most remembered songs actually.... And the streaming numbers check out - almost double the plays of any of their other songs.
Amen. Terrible year for music. I really only was able to kick off my playlist for best songs of the year a few weeks ago when Angel and Sharon released
Poor Jack. He so badly wants to be like Bruce, but his presence is more akin to Rick Moranis.
However, this song is actually not too bad. I predict all you haters will have it stuck in your head in a couple of months.
Tom: Studiously avoids mentioning George Martin in a list of producers who created music "that elbows its way into radio rotation, sells records, and changes the contours and possibilities of the zeitgeist in real time." :D
As an ex-pat Australian living in Canada, and old enough to know the original very well, this made me absolutely bawl my eyes out. The MCG is a hallowed ground, and to see this great song ringing out to the empty grandstands was a pinch myself moment.
Also, Run Baby Run is another great Deadstar track for those who are interested
After just today becoming decidedly fed up with all the hype around an ott posturing full-of-drivel band who shall not be named, it's nice to hear from a popstar with heart and sincerity - one who is truly, charmingly, kookily herself, and doesn't feel the need to try on a different style like a model on a runway every few minutes to maintain relevance.
Prefer the original, with the timeless lyrics:
Well I been to the East and and I've been to the West
Where the girls I like best are the ones undressed
Unduly excited to be on the list, after commenting so little. Thanks to everyone who makes this such a fun community. Let's continue to rule in 2020 🙏🏼
Saw them play this at the Toronto show, and it was simultaneously joyful, heartbreaking, sweet, and funny (especially when Phil gave a cheeky little smile right before the scale change for the big last chorus). A fitting way to end a really beautiful show.
