I'm in my mid-30s and a lot of people my age go to Coachella AND listened to RATM in high school, so I think it's a solid booking.
Instead, it's probably going to be at like, Terminal 5 and you're stuck in some corner with no sightline while a group of 20somethings babble about whatever the fuck next to you and won't shut up.
I feel like she's into all the same shit me and my friends were into but like, 10 years later lol.
I know a few people who work for non-profits that help provide uninsured musicians with mental health, addiction counseling, and like, physical health services, etc. They're super rad and I wish they existed in more cities.
"I did see this group live with Robert Christgau." God how awful. I'm so sorry.
Bummer. They were a fun band. But I think one of my favorite things ever was Taraka got attacked by a raccoon in Central Park and gave the most hilarious account of it and took a hilarious sexy gurney photo at the hospital lol. https://gothamist.com/2013/07/31/possibly_rabid_racoons_attack_woman.php
False! The weather is actually pretty decent in September in Raleigh.
As someone who has a lot of shitty family members, just because you share DNA with someone doesn't mean you owe them a relationship. That being said, I don't spend 90% of my life talking shit about the family members I don't like. I just kind of pretend they don't exist.
I had friends die in this fire as well. I can't believe the owner of the building hasn't been arrested or even said anything. Garbage.
This guy is a narcissist asshole and deserves whatever he gets but why haven't the fucking owners of the building been arrested? OR the promoter of the event? In the New York Times Mag article I read about Max Harris, they say that a promoter reached out to the Ghost Ship folks about hosting an event there. Isn't he even a little responsible for making sure an event he booked happened somewhere safe?
"Donald Trump Presents..." is a thing? Jesus Christ.
He could drop it at midnight on Halloween night. It's still technically Halloween and then also a Friday.
Wow. The 8x10 still exists?!
WHO WANTS THIS? August 16-18th is less than two months away. No way will they sell enough tickets to make this even worthwhile. I work for a festival that is like, a third of this one (the new cap of 45-50k) and tickets are on sale for a year and we announce the lineup like five months before the festival. We're also way cheaper than this lol. And our lineup is way better.
Oh, people are fully aware that Morrissey is a racist, alt-right, miserable windbag here in the US. Maybe not Dave Grohl? I feel like older famous people are pretty out of touch lol.
How the hell do you have so many downvotes for saying that Spiritualized is better than Oasis, Blur, and Radiohead? While I like Blur and Spiritualized about the same, you were correct on Oasis and Radiohead.
Maybe he'll play "You' re Invited (But Your Friend Can' t Come )" from Encino Man.
I think it's mainly Cameron Crowe's depiction of the music industry being some kind of rosy, fan-boy, 'experience' where you get to meet all these amaaaaazing famous people and work a 'non-conventional' job and be 'different' and just seems so... immature? It's like what a 13 year old thinks it's like to work in music.
This show is so goddamn cheesy I can't even deal. Signed, Music Industry worker
Um, it's the VMAs. Don't you get an award just for showing up? It's not like they hold any sort of significance. They're like the People's Choice Awards.
Hopscotch Music Fest is where it's at. Club crawl style. In September. Not too crowded. Great lineup.
Oh man, are you from the DC/MD area? I remember HFStival every goddamn year. I think the HFSkimo Snow Job was like, in 1998, and I was 13/14 and too young to go hahaha.
No. He stole artwork from someone. Taylor Swift is protecting her own image and brand. Imagine being famous and NOT having that protection. Someone could use your likeness and throw it on an ad for herpes and be like, "TAYLOR SWIFT APPROVED". Morrissey stole someone's shit.
" I spent a really long time freaking out because people were telling me that in order to take “the next step” in my career, I would have to become a much better “musician,” that I’d need a backing band, etc." I really like Grimes, she seems like a cool chick. But this is kinda weak. I don't think she NEEDS a backing band to take the next step in her career... but seeing an electronic artist with a full band live is much more interesting than seeing an electronic artist jump and dance around next to a laptop. It just makes for a more interesting live show, that's it.
Yo Julian: You were in the Strokes. Your mom was a Dutch model. And your dad founded a modeling agency. And you went to The Dwight School and boarding school in Switzerland. It doesn't get any whiter than that.
I remember joking with a friend that Bear In Heaven could have played a whole extra set. This was probably 2009 because I moved out of Georgia in 2010.
She's super self-centered.
I went to see them at the Masquerade in Atlanta and Bear In Heaven opened. After Bear In Heaven were done (they started on time and played 45 minutes), everyone waited around for AN HOUR AND A HALF for Crystal Castles to go on because Glass was on the bus and wanted to "finish her movie" before she got on stage (a few pals used to / still do work at the Masquerade). Apparently this bitch has never heard of PAUSE. As far as the show goes, it was fine. Mainly backing tracks, which is expected for an electronic duo or solo artist... it's just kinda sucky because I've seen similar bands go all out live and put some effort into making their live show cool.
Yeah dude. I mean, Gary Glitter? √+

They're gonna be in Europe or on the West Coast. They just announced dates. Not gonna be NMH.
They're playing Counterpoint Festival, also in Georgia, about a week earlier, so it's unlikely.
