I don't know if how she handled it is that unfair. She's basically getting heckled. You even said yourself the protestor was sensationalizing what Clinton said, you think if Clinton calmly engaged her in discussion the protestor suddenly would've shifted to a more respectful, calm tone herself? There's a difference between listening to your detractors and just handing the mic over to whoever is shouting the loudest. Clinton did at least make a point of apologizing for the rhetoric during the interview the protestor was referencing after.
You make some fair points, but it seems to me you are making a lot of assumptions about what was going on during this deposition that happened years ago and pretty much no one talked about until very recently. Kesha would've been well prepped by her lawyers (assumedly) so its unlikely the question would've caught her off guard and, obviously, to even be asked the question about being roofied the lawsuit must have somehow been connected to sexual misconduct. And to suggest Kesha may not have swore she was drugged by Dr. Luke because she was confused about what they meant by "roofie" is pretty thin.
Also, I'm not sure which comments your reading but no one here is saying Kesha deserved to be raped because of her music (not that I've read). At worst people are suggesting that Dr. Luke could be telling the truth, which by your own admission is fair.
This speaks exactly to what I was asking above. You are asking very basic questions about the situation and yet you "definitely believe" her. How can you be so sure when you don't even understand the basic details of the situation?
Well, it wasn't to do with this case, first of all. It was in a case in which a former manager was suing her and Dr. Luke. She claims she didn't say anything because Dr. Luke threatened her. But its also true that it was posed in a way that if she had admitted any physical relationship with him the lawsuit might have gone for the manager. So either Dr. Luke threatened her, or it was about her making the most possible money and her career doing as good as possible. Pretty much the same two arguments going down now between her and Dr. Luke.
Okay, serious question, because most everyone else seems to be sure about this. I get that Dr. Luke appears to be a scumbag. From not letting Kesha put tracks on her album to the whole flaming lips thing. True we don't know what Dr. Luke's reasons for doing these things were, but he's done them enough in spite of Kesha's wishes that its fair to say he's a controlling asshole. But i'm not sold on the rapist charge. The two had been openly feuding for over a year before she made the allegation. Kesha had no qualms about saying harsh things about Dr. Luke. It didn't strike me as the behavior of a victim afraid of an abuser, it was someone frustrated with a bad relationship. Then she comes out and says she was abused. What was keeping her silent on that fact for so long? And I get the whole rape culture, victim-blaming fear, I do. It exists and its disgusting, but she had no problem saying anything else awful about Dr. Luke and she's far more famous than him. The whole ordeal, Kesha has come off as someone under extreme stress for sure, but couldn't that be because she's so unhappy with her contract and she hates her producer? She's also never given any specifics about her story, not that I've read anyway. In the Cosby assault cases, victims have been able to give specific accounts of what happened. Nothing like that from Kesha at all. They also looked at Cosby as a gate keeper, Kesha seemed to think of Dr. Luke rather as an anchor. Not someone she has to please, someone she has to overcome. Aside from saying "he raped and abused me" Kesha hasn't given any additional context to it at all. And there is the whole denial that she ever had a physical relationship with Dr. Luke in that deposition. And it also true that Sony told her she didn't have to work with Dr. Luke anymore, she just has to stay with the label in her current contract (where she has no creative control). Is it that women rarely lie about rape, so everyone is taking Kesha's word for it? Honestly asking, I'm just not seeing it. Okay, excuse me now while I board up my windows preparing for the down votes.
The real problem here is that Killer Mike is accusing people of voting for Hillary over Bernie simply because she's a woman and that's a myth. It comes down to talking down to a group of people (women) because he thinks they're too bias to be able to make intelligent decisions. That's wrong. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/are-you-more-likely-to-vote-for-a-woman-or-a-man/
He's perpetuating a myth. People aren't voting for Hillary over Sanders because she's a woman. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/are-you-more-likely-to-vote-for-a-woman-or-a-man/
Yeah, well I once went on a date with the chick from Sleigh Bells' hair stylist and she ended up being a total bitch. So I guess the lesson here is who really knows?
Not that it bothers me much personally, but can you imagine the uproar this post's headline would cause if it was about a woman? You are all a party to this sexual assault! Oh wait, it's about a guy? JK LOL Penis LMFAOOOOOOOOOO!
Okay, first of all, this isn't 1950 its a pretty extreme reach to say a man proposing marriage is expecting a woman to "become his". Despite what the internet likes to tell you, the overwhelming majority of people that enter into marriage view it as a partnership.
Second, why is it that you (and assumedly her) believe this compliment (which it obviously is as no sane person could have possibly expected her to even seriously consider marrying him) is solely based on her physical appearance? Attraction is more than just looks, and if you're marrying someone they obviously are more than just a pretty face to you. The guy essentially just shouted at the concert "You're very desirable".
For someone that asked a bunch of people to pay money to stand in a room and cheer and be supportive of her for 90 minutes, she's a pretty big jerk to them when they try to say nice things to her.
Lets be real, this is only a story not because of anything that actually happened but an odd choice of words in the warrant. He gets threatened for threatening a mall cop: non story. Throw the word "terrorism" in there and everyone loses their minds!!
But the real question is why? Why did he kick Rita Ora out? I'm not buying this whole "no swallow" thing. Was it because she laughed at his tiny penis? I don't know, but it seems like that's probably what happened. So then what's the real story hear? That A$AP Rocky is a doofy mysognist or that he has a tiny penis? I'm not sure, you decide.
Feminism isn't just good, its a necessary requirement to be a part of a decent society today. But Ariana here sounds like a freshman college student that just heard a Gloria Steinem quote for the first time, went to her wikipedia page and decided "Wow, I am totally a feminist!" (and yes, anyone wanting to ask, there are male equivalents of this... they're called ALL college freshmen). And as for what seems to be the inciting incident for this missive, being called someone's "ex", that is very much a two way street and something odd for Ariana to be frustrated by because she was never at risk of being known as "Big Sean's Ex" by anyone other than maybe Big Sean's mom. Then again, Ariana probably spends most of her time around high schoolers (or at least people with high school level maturity) and I can think of no place in U.S. culture that functions as a more misogynistic "mini-society" than high school (those bullet points seem like they were quotes from respective locker rooms). So it could vital information for a lot of her fan base, at least.
First off, you have a show IN BROOKLYN, you should go to a Brooklyn bar. Second Houndstooth is one of the lamest bridge and tunnel bars in the whole frickin' city. what a classic Potsie Ed Shereen is.
Slightly off topic, what's up with that yelp review where the guy identifies his friends as "Me, another guy, and two lesbians." Huh? Why not just "Two ladies"? What the hell business is it of the bouncer that they're lesbians? Who talks that way?
