I agree with what you are saying completely . But take this in to consideration in low level income areas ultra masculinity is key at time amongst less educated people facing hardships. I know it sounds corny but think about middle schoolers acting tough and them picture growing into dangerous adults but never evolving emotionally. A lot of this music is a facade to not be seen as week. I think it has a lot less to do with homophobia and more to do with his being a victim and not wanting to project a less masculine appearance as a sign of weakness. It’s fucked up either way . I don’t love the verse at all and I doubt he would say stuff like that now. Who knows? I’m not apologizing for him. Instead of sag “ I’m mad why would he say that?” I say “ I’m sad what made him say that?” Blaming a person for ill behavior is treat a symptom not a cause. It’s really not a shrug. I have lived in many social circles ranging from homeless ( car homeless not street) to migrant camp to dope giant house.
