monster hits and great vibes. RIP Marie
really disappointed as well. I love, love, love this song, and Tom's comment that she doesn't sell it as well as BG is a head scratcher - I think her voice soaring above the swirling instrumentation of the song captures that desperation perfectly. also love the distorted solo descending guitar line and the bounce to to bass as the chorus comes down. a completely deserving #1, very underrated, and a much better song than Baker street.
Songs They Play At Blink Fitness
That little bass bump in the second verse "wrap - around - your dream" was always so much fun to play when my old band covered this. Amazing song.
This was a really enjoyable listen. Gonna spin it again tomorrow morning; I feel like it would be good sunrise music. Neil Young is a true G. Hope I'm releasing music this good when I'm 73.
honestly it feels really out of place in the movie. it's the only "dancing" scene which doesn't feature the string quartet type music, and halfway through the scene it fades into the string music anyway. really off and weird, especially given the connotations everyone has with it. kind of like the Angel of the Morning thing in it Chapter 2
great album, though i don't really ever need to hear the HIV song again. White Pepper is criminally underrated
god i love Night Moves. one of the best fucking songs ever written
my way out was Modest Mouse - but Radiohead is also acceptable. I checked out around Kid A - I didn't get it until much later.
Lots of good Bonus "Bonus Beats" in here... but I didn't see mine. for whatever reason, I can't hear this song without thinking about this stupid Pets dot com commercial... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXHrlm5Nk5w
honestly, Take Me Home Tonight is a great song and was totally my jam as a radio kid.
is that really what he looks like?
the indie cindy stuff was ... not good. The material they've released since has been at least as good as mid-tier FB solo stuff. so... listenable and enjoyable, if not earth shattering
I remember someone on K Rock did the same thing for the Darkness's I Believe in a Thing Called Love. (I was driving for a living at this point so I listened to a lot of radio) - the guy played it twice then took a call imploring him not to play it again... so he did. Never heard anything live on the radio like that.
sounds cool. really nice vibe and solos. I love the idea of a crazy horse album that sounds like this.
that is a pretty incredible setlist, and speaks to the depth of the band's material. not to mention how difficult it must be for a vocalist to pull off a single night like this, much less an entire tour of nights like this (guitar solo breaks notwithstanding)
excuse me, what the fuck?
imagine bragging that you don't know something
very nice. the album is great too. I missed getting tix tho
i pray tonight that little bits and pieces of DB like this continue to trickle out as long as I live
the worst news, fucking devastated. no words
1) the singles have been great 2) Jack Antonoff is on a hell of a run with the last couple albums he's worked on, Melodrama, Masseduction, the new Red Hearse stuff 3) Lana is fantastic, if her last album was down, this smells like comeback stuff
calling Widespread Panic... Disco Biscuits... anyone?
he hinted at an interview after the CROW tour that he had one more album of "songs like this" ready to go (that was Now Only presumably) and then he was going to do "something loud" ... but I know he's gotten married and divorced since then so who knows
this sounds amazing. if they toured I would lose my mind
pretty sweet. great drumming
wait a minute that Half Love song is dope
this was the #1 song on my day of birth. I've been waiting for this column!
I mean I can see liking this song, I like this song, I'm a Beatles fan and an Elton fan. But one of the best songs ever written? Can't wrap my head around that. It's not even the best song on that record. Listening to it now, it feels completely unnecessary.
surprisingly high marks for Ugly Kid Joe. Perhaps it's time for a re-evaluation of that weird time in rock that was post hair metal but grunge still hadn't quite dominated the scene yet?
really shocked by the lack of love I'm seeing for the Deerhunter album, I think it's incredible
crazy how you can tell it's Bobby Keys from one phrase
Well it's certainly universes away from "I'm gonna get drunk, so drunk, at your wedding". It's been incredible to see him evolve as a writer over the years. I've listened to the first two batches of new songs but I think I'm going to wait for the full release before checking out the rest. I really dig them and feel like RAM is a good comp. there's definitely some synchronicity happening with him and Berman both releasing material this summer. I'm seeing both (at the same venue!) and I feel like it's going to make a nice contrast.
this is sad and scary. i hope he gets the help he needs
