The South and Southeast basically have zero shows but Canada has nine? I'm guessing there will be more dates added in April, May and June. Hefty tour either way. Pretty cool that they can pull five days at the Garden.
It was good. I liked it. But I think I got more feeling from what it was than I did from the performance itself. That was music that could never have been on the Super Bowl halftime even five years ago and it was cool to see it. I'm sure it made a lot of people unhappy and I love that, as well. The performance itself, it was good. Really good. But I didn't enjoy it as much as some people seem to have enjoyed it. I wasn't really moved outside of Kendrick, who brought the heat, but I enjoyed everyone.
Likewise, my mother. She is generally very open to all kinds of music and definitely doesn't dislike Mary or the PG version of Snoop he presents as an entertainer. But that entire world of hip-hop, no matter how huge those songs were, was outside of even the farthest reaches of her music periphery. Also, live music was a big part of a lot her life. It's rare when she can't find anything positive or redeeming to say about a live performance of any kind. She's 72 years old and she thoroughly enjoyed Beastie Boys Story when she watched it a couple months ago. But about three-quarters of the way through the halftime she very forcefully said, "I'm not really enjoying this." I imagine that will be a frequent topic of conversation and reporting in the coming days.
Imagine having to send heartfelt, rational messages to Kanye West about his kids as part of your relationship. .... just try to imagine that.
Ed and Taylor need to do an album together with all the people Taylor worked with on the last couple albums. Shit, make it a band and let everyone contribute. I'd be into that. I might be the only one though. Even without those people, not the first time I've had this thought, Ed and Taylor should do an album together. They pop music world probably wouldn't have let it happen peacefully in the past, but this is the time when Taylor can do whatever she wants and Ed has been doing that already. It'll never happen, but it should.
Goes hard. Great early release choice. There's no place on radio for something like this in 2022, but it's perfect for streaming because it lets everyone know Jack still knows how to do this particular thing.
Meant to post this at the end of the last comment... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKoRLOCeQ8s
Wot? Why? Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder have been about as female friendly as any artists of their generation. How about instead you work with your friends and have a good time and don't try to shove yourself into the never ending labyrinth of boxes we now use to "define" ourselves. This shit doesn't need to be forced, that's why people push back. Lets start with just not being assholes. Lets start with just liking each other and having a good time again. There is absolutely nothing that would be objectively "better" about that band if there was a woman in it unless that woman was a better player than those guys. Guys Eddie Vedder already knows and has played with. If the gender balance of a band is what draws your interest, cool. It's not for me, and certainly does for me nothing in regards to how boring a band is/appears.
Yeah I looked up the venue. Some "on the grass" thing. Also, I was born in Portland, grew up there, still have family there, but I haven't been there in at least 20 years. Troutdale wasn't really a cool place last time I was up there. Or even a place you really went. I mean, the population now is 15k, last time I was there it was way smaller than that. The venue looks cool though. And the list of people who have already played there is impressive. It is small though. So are a couple of the other venues. Even Red Rocks is small compared to the sheds and amphitheaters they could be playing.
Like I said in the last post about this "beef", Pearl Jam shits on Motley Crue live these days and will continue to do so.
Damn it... the Greek is a great fucking venue. Grrr! So is Red Rocks. And where in fuck are they playing in Troutdale, Oregon? And why are they playing Bend, but not Portland. Very small, different kinds and locations of venues mixed in with the huge festivals. Interesting tour routing for sure. Kinda looks like Trent still having fun being in NIN. Especially with that current ender.
A New Poetry is a fucking jam! Always assumed it didn't get an official release because it's got a LOT of Pumpkin flavor. But yeah for sure that's one I'll be looking forward to.
I've said this before, I think, but I have a Zwan compilation I put together with b-sides, unreleased songs in both demo and live form, as well as some covers they did live here and there and the length, if being released in an artifact format, would require three CDs. Some of those songs, in my opinion, were better (sometimes far better), than the ones on the officially released Zwan album. I remember hearing there's some really good video, as well, but I've never seen any of it. So yeah, box set, and I'll buy it.
Did Nikki forget that the most exciting thing his band has done in over twenty years was lie about retiring? Shit, maybe thirty years, depending on how you feel about everything they did post Dr. Feelgood. Pearl Jam shits on Motley Crue live these days by a great wide margin and they will continue to do so.
With "a" Stereogum opinion.
No, it's stated as a fact. If it's an opinion you say, in my opinion Kiedis is the worst vocalist ever. Words have meaning that change depending on how you write them. Stating "The worst vocalist of all time." is pure hyperbolic nonsense that is being said as if it's some sort of irrefutable truth of the universe. It's not.
I love when people down vote facts. One of my favorite things about stupid pointless comment voting. 17 song is not a huge number for a RHCP album. End of conversation.
Every RHCP album since Mother's Milk has had 13 to 16 songs (other than Stadium Arcadium which also had 14 per disc). 17 is pretty much in line with every other album. I assume a couple will be really short and at least one will be extra long (again, based on their past output). Also, to just do something different? Honestly didn't really notice it, have to listen again.
Not even close in any universe. Lawd. Hyperbole much? Not liking somebodies voice does not make them the "worst vocalist ever". lol
