Coachella 2015 (weekend one!) has begun. This year’s Indio retreat has some firsts: an on-site H&M, a ban on narcissism, and Donald Fagen learning who AC/DC are. What’s oppressive about this particular song, though?

Kevin Parker identifies as a man. He is saying he, as a man, is flawed. I don’t get what’s oppressive about that. It’s not an artist’s responsibility to adopt a universal point of view with their art. It’s also cool as a listener to not identify with the song, but I don’t see anything “wrong” with the song itself.

The song is fine sound-wise.

		Yeah fuck this shit. This song seriously sours me on this album. I wish it was a joke. It’s not even a very good song otherwise. But yeah that whole “I’m a man, I can’t help it, boys will be boys” thing is such bullshit to the millionth degree, and I can’t believe this is actually a song a great songwriter like Kevin Parker actually wrote. Ugh.
