Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

We are still going strong with year-end lists, essays, and interviews. Check out the 2018 In Review archive to see what you might’ve missed. One list we didn’t publish, as Win pointed out today, is a collection of the year’s worst album covers. Maybe we should do that in this very post? I’ll start.

My Spotify top 100 songs has “Never Seen A Girl” by ShitKid down around #75. That song is from 2017. It’s the oldest song on my list. Nostalgia is the fucking worst. You guys in your 30’s are probably already dealing with your friends from days gone by talking about “Remember band XXX from 1998? Why can’t they make music like that anymore?” I’m a grateful beyond belief to Stereogum and all of you people that frequent it. I have ZERO irl friends left that listen to anything newer than Nirvana. What’s really weird is the way they’ll say “Modest Mouse? You like them, right?” And I just smile and say yeah. There’s no sense in telling them that although I DO like Modest Mouse I liked them quite a bit more about TWENTY YEARS AGO. Sorry…I got all worked up. Nostalgia sucks. Listen to new bands. Breathe in their youthful vigor like Charlize sucking the life out of teenagers in that shitty Snow White movie.

Wikipedia says his real name is Blow Job Thomas. That can’t be right.

The photo, the “you’re hiding a child” and the fact that Push sunk Drake’s whole marketing plan for an Adidas line called Adidon just makes that beef savage on so many levels, so savage that Drake couldn’t even record a proper response. Who cares about Kanye becoming an edgelord? Drake vs Pusha-T was Grade-A5 Wagyu Beef.

Before I do ANYTHING, I ask myself if it might possibly land me in a rap beef with Pusha T. If the answer is yes? I don’t do that thing.

Been this way for years. I avoid the state of Virginia entirely.

I lived the high school talent show fantasy, but instead of a Jimmy Page solo, it was the quiet part in the middle of “Master of Puppets”, and instead of swooning in awe of my god-like guitar wizardry, the stagehands started closing the curtains because they thought the song was over.
