I don't think Loretta had any of those people in mind when she expressed this opinion. Probably speaking more to the generic bro country stuff of the last decade or so.
This has AOTY potential for me. Digging this first single.
I predicted KC would go full Lucinda on this LP and deliver her 'Car Wheels on a Gravel Road'. This album cover and single have not changed my opinion.
Nap Eyes are a Canadian treasure
Lots of great Canuck indie bands crushing it right now: Walrus, Kiwi Jr., Ducks Unlimited, Pottery. All worth checking out
I haven’t seen any pub for it anywhere, but one of my old favs Futurebirds have a new album out this week, if you like a little twang with your rock & roll. Pretty sure I remember a couple Gummers showing them some love in the past

Yes, I think the Third Man deal was for 2 albums.
Also, I love Jeremy Ivey being referred to as “her regular collaborator”. He’s her husband, lol. If I ever get married, def introducing my wife this way
Actual rock songs of the decade:
Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built
The War On Drugs - Red Eyes
Screaming Females - Doom 84
Future Islands - Seasons
Sheer Mag - Fan The Flames
Courtney Barnett - Pedestrian At Best
My Morning Jacket - Compound Fracture
Kevin Morby - I Have Been to the Mountain
Angel Olsen - Shut Up Kiss Me
Alabama Shakes - Hold On
I did this in 3 minutes off the top of my head. Don't @ me. I'm not even sure these are all considered rock
Nice list! I saw a bunch of old favourites this year. Concert comfort food
My Morning Jacket @ Red Rocks
The Raconteurs
Kevin Morby
Angel Olsen
Dark Thoughts/Screaming Females
Kurt Vile & The Violators
The Strokes
Have a safe and happy holidays everyone!
I know most of you are on Spotify, but I’ve been keeping a best of alt/indie playlist going for 2019 on Apple Music and it turned out pretty dope if any has like 10 hours to kill

My guess is Meg had no interest in participating, so in that case, leaving Jack out also made sense. Though they are doing future seasons, so who knows if they ever decide to get involved. Ben Blackwell is a good conduit though, as he was essentially a part of the band from day 1, and has archived so much stuff over the years. I was definitely not disappointed, lots of great stories for even the most hardcore of fans.
Striped was really good. So was Slow Burn. Now I have a bunch of others to check out, thanks for the list. Chuck D hosting a podcast about The Clash sounds extremely interesting.
Still love that album. That band had probably the greatest collection of non-fictional rock star names ever:
Fabrizio Moretti
Rodrigo Amarante
Binki Shapiro
Ya, I saw them in 2010 during the Innerspeaker tour and thought they were great. I have been steadily disappointed in each subsequent tour since then. I'm sitting this one out, especially since they are playing arenas.
Hot Take: Tame Impala are a pretty boring live band
Don't get me wrong, they always sound great, but I think their stage presence leaves something to be desired.
I've revisited that Strand Of Oaks album 'Eraserland' recently. I forgot that My Morning Jacket were his backing band for that LP, which is one of the reasons it sounds so damn good. I think it also works better as winter album, than spring/summer when it came out.
