This seems like it's possible a nicer way of admitting to things he's feeling or doing in secret, otherwise, yeah it seems like an overreaction. But, man, how old is this guy? Cause I get the pining/trickiness of feeling for someone in another relationship, but that "it was an intense two week relationship" stuff would make even high school me roll his eyes. Sounds like the dude was living a middling Sundance film.
I went to 04ish to 06 as well. 06 was the year NoFX just made fun of Underoath's conservatism until they left the tour, and it ruled.
Ugh I hadn't even thought of the low profile thing.
Yeah all the emo/pop-punk bands that came up through MySpace are suspect imo. I mean, hell, wasn't Pete Wentz dating a sixteen year old in his mid 20s at one point? All fucking weird.
There was once some website in the mid 00s that had a list of supposed sexual harassment he's committed (I can't remember any of the specifics but I do think it extrapolated a lot from his lyrics which is always shaky ground), so I wonder if that is what the OP was referring to.
Saw it live and it's even better imo.
Shit, man. I just fell down a whole reading about it. Doesn't look good.
So I use the library to save albums which means they're listed in my artists, albums, and songs, like the old-school iTunes library or media player. It's not necessarily unusable, but I can't save anymore albums without unsaving particular ones. Since part of how I listen to music is scrolling through the library until something jumps out at me, the limiting of the library just presents a roadblock for how I use the app going forward unless I want to really sift through it and do a Marie Kondo clean of every album that doesn't fully bring me joy. That's part of why I asked how people use their streaming because this is also making me realize just how many people primarily use playlists or just think of artists off the top of their head and go to them, and I find those divisions in use pretty interesting.
** Addendum to question: how do you use streaming services? Are they mostly for new stuff and then you buy digital versions/cds/vinyls/etc? What do you listen on mostly? and so on and so forth etc amen
Lots of people here loved it, and I'm still baffled by it.
*extremely still weirdly hung up on this for an album I think is mostly OK at best other than a few great songs voice* It's like the opposite of pom pom where it's scattershot, shoddy, stuff-too-full-of-ideas nature is good, actually.
Hey y'all, I have a question: What are you using to stream these days and is it a replacement or supplement to your music library? I've been using Spotify Premium for the past five or so years, and because a really heavy user of it when the My Library feature allowed you to basically organize your own library a la iTunes in it. Turns out there's a 10,000 song limit, though (weirdly, albums you save are the number of songs in the album plus 1 additional "song"), and I hit it this week on the way to a Tegan & Sara show (v good but I digress). I used to have a serious digital collection, but streaming has made me lean towards it for digital and vinyl for home use. Hitting the limit, though, makes Spotify kind of unuseable for me, and definitely will be untenable going forward. Can anyone recommend one of the other streaming ones and what's good and what sucks? Sorta related, but I had a weird moment when I hit 10,000. Googled around and though there's definitely several complaints, there were even more comments along the lines of "Why would you ever need 10,000 songs? Who listens to that many? Who even listens to 1,000?" It felt like I traveled back in time to the beginning of the iPod. Spotify has been all downhill since the loss of messaging imo.
Yo, I was there too! God that show was fantastic.
I was gonna post about it in Shut Up Dude tomorrow, but it fucking sucks and seriously has me thinking of switching to another service. Basically makes the way I use it untenable.
Well, the plot was necessary to push the plotline "think of your anger and hate to make you stronger." which, uh...
I hit Spotify's library limit last night, so it looks like it's gonna be a no from me.
I liked it and thought the first half focused too much on the mythos without building the characters in a compelling way. The first season manages to strike a better balance in the beginning both because the story is more focused and there is way more mystery around everything. The back half of S2 ruled (possibly due to Steve, for sure) minus Ep7 which was a nightmare and if it moves towards low-rent New Mutants I'm going to check right the fuck out. My bigger worry, though, is more that they don't really have the ideas to sustain it. Barely anything "new" was introduced this season. Other than the Mind Flayer, it was mostly a variation of concepts from the first season but done slightly bigger--at the standard sequel cost of downgrading the big bad of the previous season. You can do that in Aliens because you're also changing from space truckers to space marines. I dunno where they go for season 3, but I hope if they head back into the Upside-Down they populate it with some new ideas because "blue, barren ashy world" wasn't as cool as the dark, Silent Hill esque mirror world the first season made it seem like it'd head towards.

The photo of her that's going viral on Twitter right now fucking rules: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOFHRPdVoAEWcYx.jpg
Well, not "standing up" so much as making fun of the situation.
Is this Taylor Swift trolling or him actually standing up for her? Is this real life?
I mean, hell, if you want to keep the U2 comparisons going, they did the same thing in stadiums like 7 years ago, and it was the highest grossing tour of all time.
Wait, what was the fanfiction?
This album hit me right as I was wrapping up my first semester of college and flat-out changed my taste in music in drastic ways, as well as basically being the gateway drug that got me a lot deeper into electronic music in general (I knew enough of it, but it was a genre I had only skimmed prior). I put this on earlier this week and tumbled through it all over again. It continually bums me out that his recent output hasn't done much for me post-Rival Dealer. Also, I can't hear "Come Down to Us" without thinking of the intro to Adam Curtis's Bitter Lake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s8wAb0zFn8 Oh and as for "Compiled into a double-disc set, these could potentially eat Untrue’s lunch, moving further into fast-paced garage and lovely, sometimes drumless balladry." I'm pretty sure Raptor Jesus has done just that, hasn't he?
Sam Smith's physical transformation from his first album to his second will never not be a testament to the magical powers of cocaine imo.
Somehow I didn't realize Brandon Stosuy was the organizer for Basilica Soundscape Festival. V good festival, Brandon!
Still convinced this phase of Taylor's career will be revealed to be a future season finale of Nathan for You.
Gavin McInnes is a turd, and the only good thing about him is this incredible self own from when Marine Le Pen lost. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DNJ_HIzXkAEPXLa.jpg

That's pretty rad. I ask only cause Stereogum tends to cover already established acts so it's always a cool surprise to see something/someone shared on here when it's like brand, brand new.
What do you have to do to have your first song ever released on the internet immediately make it to a blog like Stereogum? That sounds a little more snarky than I mean it, but like, I can't even find this band on the internet and find this kind of thing fascinating.
Holy fucking hell there are videos of it online, and I hope this is the dude: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ev0JBD_AxY
Ethan seems like a real piece of shit. There's been all sorts of rumors about him for ages (https://crystalfakecastles.tumblr.com/post/155930729160/ethan-kath-married-with-au-vyst-former-cosplayer ), so I'm not surprised but Jesus Christ. Hope Alice continues to heal and grow and much love to her.
