the original Chic version of the album (plus bonus cuts) is on spotify!
Saw them live a few months ago and they were great, excited for another Beths record!
i wonder how much Richard music is out there on various platforms, under various names that's right out in the open but that we just don't know about.
Murder Most Foul really hits. I've been rocking Yaeji all week, she's got bangers, thanks SG!
awesome username!
the 1975 are more commercially popular in UK but in the US they are more critically loved. I actually met a british guy at a Cate Le Bon show a few months ago and we had this exact conversation! He said the 1975 song "Chocolate" was huge in England (i don't think that song charted at all or was ever on US radio). He said every one knows who they are in UK, most people in the US don't know who they are at all but there is a lot of feverish love for them from the US that the UK doesn't
dig the comparison. i personally am getting so annoyed at how much this album has been teased and pushed back, it's literally been teased for years. i agree-what better time than now to get a big beautiful 1975 album? If it's really about the vinyl pressing issues, fuck that- Matty seems to be cool enough to be like fuck that we'll worry about that later. I mean 6 songs are out already, just get it out there.
Drives me batty when SG writes their reviews for albums that aren't coming out for a week! I've had this review on a saved tab for a week until today when I can finally hear the album. I'm stoked to listen to the album and also stoked to read about it, finally!!!
live hope she'll be happier with him is a real one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYog2KV_yOU
to be clear, by "these guys" i mean the 1975, not SG. SG is doing the right thing by letting us know and reporting the facts. The 1975 are doing the wrong thing by stringing along their fans and steadily teasing us with an album for over two years.
I will say this- I am thankful for the (mostly very good) tracks they've dropped. but c'mon the tease for this album (over 2 years now!) is grating.
i like this band and am excited to hear this album. But c'mon guys just stop announcing stop about it. It's been getting so old having to read about this album being pushed back again and again. Remember when it was supposed to originally come out a month after Brief Inquiry? Every two months for the last two years now they come out and announce they are delaying the album. We all have enough anxiety right now. Would it really be so hard for these guys to just shut the fuck up about the album until it is actually finished and ready to go?
So hesitant to believe artists when they describe what their new music is going to sound like, but Frank has said (And if you look at his playlists it appears to be so) that he's been very into house and club music. HIs whole thing with the Prep shows was all about house music. Frank definitely has a really banging club album in him, I'm hoping the next one will be it.
i'm with you, was so stoked and copped them on first day. $50 for two 45's and it's been almost 6 months now and have yet to get them or even getting any info on whether they're shipping. Pretty annoying.
If he announced he was releasing an album and it was going to be called The Perfect Hoodie I'd be pretty stoked for it actually
this is fucking cool. i will stream an album of hers today, it's been a while . if i remember correctly Sweetener slapped actually
i literally commented here on SG three days ago a little rant about how cool and awesome MIA was. Life comes at you fast as fuuuuuuuck these days. Damn i don't like this. I Hope everyone being safe.
caught him at FyF in 2015, it was sick. Darkside played later that same night. that was a good day. I miss FyF!
absolutely agree. but i wonder how much of that is self-imposed. He's kind of a low-key guy in general. I think Nicolas (kind of like Aphex) seems impervious to critical or popular reactions to his music and has no concern for what journalists think or attaining fame (it just comes to him because his shit bangs so hard.). Also like Aphex he changes his name up a bunch, and scrambles journalists to find his music as he releases music all over the place so it makes things like cultivating a popular mass market for him difficult. I think it's a cool and exciting approach.
M.I.A. is the absolute coolest. love everything about her- attitude, passion, fashion, and of course she has bangers for days. I went to see her twice on the Matangi tour and I had the pleasure to meet her after one of the shows and she couldn't have been more nice.
so stoked for this. against all logic was incredible
this is a great song. I've been jamming the "Scared To Live" song a ton as well. "Scared To Live" is the theme song of the pandemic
dude makes some great videos. this is cool. the one for "the hills" was one of my favorites of last decade
i wonder what changes Matty is in the studio right now frantically making to the new album to respond to the pandemic?

"Scared to Live" is fantastic, and so apropos of the moment. Pandemics have theme songs apparently
