Somebody's Calling Me from This Is Happening shares quite a bit of DNA with Iggy Pop's Nightclubbing. It never bothered me, LCD was writing new songs around old riffs, basically sampling, though I'm surprised James didn't get sued over any of it. At least not that we know of.
I will wage war against you, Marshy! I hope your next half million dollar truck is stolen too, but this time they get their Taco Bell order and leave stains on your seats!
What happened, Marshy see this post and downvote me for giving him MY choice of nickname? Tough crap, Marshy. Go buy something else stupid no one needs.
As incredibly stupid as it is to have this ridiculous vehicle, I will say I feel for anyone whose car/truck/ride is stolen like this. Being that it’s Marshmello, I feel significantly less, but still, you steal someone’s car, you suck. And if you run the shop where it’s getting worked on and it’s stolen from there, you suck. I wonder if Marshy is going to get litigious about this with the shop. Also, from here forth I will only refer to Marshmello as Marshy. Makes everything a little easier to handle.
Fun like overdosing on crack.
You melted my heart. So glad for you two and that Rosie was able to be there. Much love to you forever.
I heard this and at least one other freestyle years ago on a bootleg tape. It was weird but kinda fun there. Here, it just feels... wrong. Pepsi, could you please stop looking for any opportunity to pimp your wares via pop culture? That said, the animation is nicely done. I guess it could be worse. I give it a 5 out of 10. Shoulda left that freestyle on the old mixtapes.
This sounds like the plot to an episode of South Park. Fuck Tekashi, but let him live so he’ll be in debt to too many people and fear his gangster pals for having snitched on them. I don’t wish him any harm, but I do wish he’d go away.
Sometimes they do get proper releases, but very rarely. Regarding these files, these are all uncompressed wav files, but I haven't figured out how to rip them yet.
Having listened to a good chunk of it now, I’m under the impression that the focus was never to give a complete track list for any of the albums that Sign was assembled from. A lot of the tracks that appeared on those other albums are different versions here. Sometimes these versions have only subtle differences, but some are quite different from what has circulated within the fan communities. So it’s definitely its own thing, though it still gives a good look into all of those projects. Also, I think they’re taking the presence of the Crystal Ball set from 98 and the selections there that could have been included here as a reason not to feature them. All said, I can’t complain. Very happy Prince fan here!
Actually, Bonnie did record a version of this that leaked a few years ago. It’s Prince’s backing track but all her vocals. It’s okay, but it definitely wasn’t a fit. Good song though, and great to see it finally get a proper release.
Quick update, despite what I'm seeing from some Avalanches fans on Reddit and elsewhere, yeah, it looks like the release date is indeed December. That sucks, but we'll make it.
I’m seeing reports that the vinyl won’t drop until December but the album will be out in November. Maybe there is just some confusion. If it is December, well, that sucks, but it’ll happen.
I WANT A POP BOX SET! This album is okay, but a box set of it? I can leave that behind.
I know this is for a good cause, but if there was ever an example of something I'd buy and never actually listen to, well, here it is. Geez.
I too want to know if he is familiar with K Records' discography. That said, nice work on the ink.
I don’t think it’s as wonderfully deep as Drunk, but I do love it all the same. It feels less serious than that one, almost like an EP. That said, my biggest gripe is the awesome bonus tracks he puts on the Japanese issues. There is a previously unreleased track with Mac on Drunk and a new one with Michael McDonald on the new one. Why keep that goodness from us?
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Sting, like, uh... STING?
That is an awesome episode! Totally batshit nuts! I feel I should also use this platform to mention the amazing remix of Craig Mack’s Flava in Ya Ear with Busta, Biggie and LL on it as well as the two Leaders of the New School albums. Busta is also essentially a member of A Tribe Called Quest on their excellent, final album.
That better be the intro to the album! Need more Chris Rock and Busta Rhymes always!
This sounds so much more planned than any other live events that have happened. I would hope people at the show will be respectful, and time will tell.
Hey Bix, as a hardcore Prince fan and also a fan of White Horse (the song to be specific, no experience with the non-prescription medication), I've gotta note that while I've seen that story about Prince and Laid Back on opposite sides of a 12" several times I can't find any evidence confirming it. The closest I've ever found is an obscure British WEA club promo sampler with Erotic City and White Horse mixed together, which seems appropriate, and a later Italian jukebox 7" with Prince and Laid Back on opposite sides, albeit completely different songs that were released in 1987 (If I Was Your Girlfriend and It's a Shame). For all I know, Prince may have brought White Horse to the attention of his label and asked about a split single of some sort, but no one I've ever spoken with has been able to point to a promotional release with White Horse and anything else by Prince on a record together apart from the aforementioned WEA club sampler. Still, even if the anecdote has little to no factual evidence, it's a fun story for two records that really belong next to each other in a dj's mix. And just in case you wanted to take a look at that WEA club sampler, here's a link: https://www.discogs.com/Various-WEA-Club-Promotion-Only/release/7714734 It's a fun little mix too.
Say what you wanna say, but while there might not be a vaccine right now, there will be one, and people will eventually be able to live under more relaxed conditions again. It's how we beat polio and SARS and all the other pandemics we've had to deal with. Maybe things won't be "perfect", but things WILL get better. If that doesn't make sense to you, if you really believe everything is over, you're even dumber than you initially came off as. Go run around in public like a fool and see where it gets you. If you end up in a covid ward, unable to breathe, you'll have brought it on yourself. Hopefully you're smart enough not to let that happen, because as angry as your idiotic comments make me, I don't wish any ill will on you.
I get what you're saying, but it's not about some old geezers, it's about anyone and everyone. I'm not saying you should live like a hermit, but living wild and loose won't help you or anyone else. If you got seriously sick, how would you feel then? If someone you loved got sick and died, how would you feel? Some people don't even know they have compromised immune systems. And it's not going to be forever. Say what you want about the vaccine, but they're working on it which is better than nothing. And if everyone focused on wearing masks and being respectful for a few weeks we could put a serious hurt on more cases of covid happening. So don't be careless or troll people about this, you're not helping anyone. Take it seriously for everyone else, even if you don't take it seriously for yourself.
So this LA track is about how she's leaving LA to marry a billionaire and she's sad about leaving LA? Like she can't visit whenever she wants to with her now unlimited wealth and such? Wow, what an enormous audience there must be for this, all these "artists" marrying billionaires. Even Grimes broke it off with Elon Musk. So, is this the second step in LDR's decline from the heights of stardom? The first step was her thoughtless comments about women of color in music and her being unable to realize she might have made a mistake and apologize for it. This is going to be a long drop.
I love Billy Joel and I love this song, but you and Tom (and Billy) are right, it's a 5. It's not bad, but it's not THAT good either.
Honestly, I love everything they do, but I get it. They’re not the same group they started as, having lost three of their five original members. On top of that, Wildflower was really a mixture of more than a decade’s worth of sessions, so it’s not cohesive like Since I Left You. That said, I like this and look forward to whatever they’re doing next.
Can we PLEASE drop freestyle from the song’s name unless it’s a genuine freestyle, as in off the head or of the dance variety? Seriously, it’s literally like saying literally, which is to say it’s missing the point!
Creed seems like an okay guy. Get him to record a song for the 00s cover album!
If it makes you feel any better, it was just an alternate pic from the same shoot. Jeff Katz, the photographer, has had it on his site for years and even sold prints of it. So, yeah, I know what you're saying, but thankfully, that's not what it is.
I answered. I hate my answer, but it's the song of the summer, at least where I am. Hope something better wins the honor!
This is really good, more a cover in a very distinct style than a remix. Really like it though. And happy birthday, Beck!
No prob. That said, there's a good chance it might still be hiding in your browser's cache if you're feeling edgy.
You wanna grab those from your browser cache just in case it doesn’t come out for another week or two? Please?
When you say “catch it yesterday”, are you saying you heard it or you also downloaded it? Cause if you still have it, could you spare a link?
As Peach Mode mentioned, the circumstances for this needing to happen aren't great, so I apologize for being overly positive (???), but regardless, let's make this happen!
I wish I could pledge the highest tier but I'm having problems paying some bills, so I'm doing $20 cause I want that compilation. That said, if things change, I'll pledge more. Regardless, this is great and let's get you guys overfunded!
Scott, I'd throw some money at a crowdfunding campaign or whatever. Totally serious, I'm happy to help you guys continue being a success.
It really is amazing what a difference Shep could make for a track. The New Order version is fine, but his remix is absolutely amazing! Can't wait for this Strange Relationship mix!
Regarding those configurations of Crystal Ball and Dream Factory, versions of both of those albums leaked a few years ago. That said, neither are completely represented in this box, which is a damn shame. Even the Camille album, which was only eight songs long, only has five tracks included in this box. I’m a bit bothered this isn’t a definitive set but we’re getting so much incredible music I can let it go. I still think we’re eventually going to get releases of those three albums, or at least Camille and maybe Dream Factory.
