I only listened to the first three tracks so far but they're SO good. I'm super excited to sit through the whole thing tomorrow. If the rest of the album is on the same level this is going to be one hell of a comeback record
I wasnt trying to be too cynical though, I actually thought the album was fine. Nothing that really stands out but not really bad either. It did make for a good soundtrack for my morning house routines so there's that.
Just wanted to use this comment section to thank YBB for constantly stanning The Sea and Cake and specifically Oui on here. I finally listened to it this week and BOY IS IT GOOD OR WHAT. Soundtracked a few days of studying and I'm guessing the rest of the discog's up next.

Yeah, exactly what I came here to say. I don't know Toby Keith and he might as well be an asshole but being mad about this collaboration just because he's a Trump supporter is bullshit. People with bad opinions can still make good art (not that I suspect he's a good musician or that this album is not going to suck, but still)
I love your comment BUT the best rhythm section of the indie era is Bloc Party circa '06. Matt Tong is probably the best drummer in 00's indie rock with only Chris Bear, Matt Helders and that dude from Clpud Nothings coming close

This is not the first anniversary write-up here in which I actually get to celebrate with the album (that would probably be In Rainbows), but it's the first one to make me feel old. Brings back memories of some sweet summer nights and of my highschool girlfriend. I'm glad to say that it hasn't aged one bit. What a wonderful album
Yeah, this is my favorite out of the three as well. Every single one of them has some amazing songs which stand out, and each is just great back-to-back, but there's something about the flow and naiveté of the debut that just makes it stand out
Pretty week on the metal/hardcore/noisy stuff compared to past years, but it's still Primavera so it's never short of great bands. Might have to visit for the third year in a row :)
I was listening to Kaputt on repeat the other week. Gave it the respect is deserves. Feel like they're going to be getting a lot of plays now with finals coming up. Fantastic studying music, as it seems.
Yeah, I'll still take a new Strokes album any day, but I'd love it the most if we could just have both. Let Julian do his insane creative thingy with his band and then save the actual gems to a Strokes album.
I think (or hope) that now, when they all pretty much have successful (ish?) side things going on, and after quite some time has passed since their last album, the gang (well, everyone that isn't Jules) might be able to just let their egos rest for a bit and let Jules dictate his thing and just make another all-time-classic. I know they still got it in them, and they should be way bigger then all the other indie bands from that time who are somehow headlining arenas and festivals worldwide (how the fuck the Killers are still a thing is beyond me).
I don't know yet if it's better than Manipulator but it's definitely close to it!! That and Twins are my favorite Ty albums by far and Freedom's Goblin makes a nice new addition to that list
Also: new Ty Segall is incredible. If you're going to listen to one overlong new album this weekend, make sure to pick this one and not Migos. It rules.
Just popped in to say that I finally realized this week that I completely skipped the first Voidz album and all the talk about them here made me go back and finally listen and DAMN this thing is so great. I absolutely loved it.
Maybe it's a good thing that I skipped it when it came out too because back then I was in my biggest Strokes phase (which culminated in flying out to London to see 'em in Hyde Park), so I probably would've hated it. But now that it's been a few years I can actually appreciate for the insane stroke of genius it is.
Anyway, really excited for Virtue. It's shaping up to be very tasty
Views and More Life are already pretty damn bloated by themselves, although I did manage to sit through both multiple times (more with Views than More Life tbh).
I haven't even tried to listen to this album yet. I figured that if I have to listen to a possibly-bloated-and-definitely-very-long album today, it's going to be the new Ty Segall. not disappointed!
