fuck why was i born in europe and in case you weren't aware, in the same room is an absolute treasure
come on now, the grammys are nothing but a popularity contest and i know that you know that neither of those artists are as popular as Bruno Mars. shit, if it were up to me perfume genius would've cleaned every category, but if you're expecting the grammys to reward artistic expression rather than being an industry self-congratulatory parade you're being unrealistic. look for prizes like the mercury or the polaris for that, certainly not to the grammys and adele, a woman, sweeped the awards last year
'Doesn't it kind of backhandedly imply that the women who have come into the industry just aren't working hard enough, or just aren't making good enough art?' not necessarily, it can just as easily imply that there are many more men in the industry and that therefore it's more likely a man will win an award. Whether we are talking about technical work in the music industry, or in any other industry really, most of the people who devote themselves to it are men. Heck I would gladly welcome more women into my line of work, but when I joined uni they were 3 out of 100. So maybe women are in fact, as a group, less interested in technical work? Surely you don't expect every occupation to have a 50/50 split do you? And before I am fucking raided by everyone, yes women do in fact face more barriers than men in technical kinds of jobs, if not when they initially choose their career path at uni then definitely in the working environment. 'I think it’s upon us — us as an industry — to make the welcome mat very obvious' And what the guy is saying addresses that; apparently not to the extent that you would like, I mean it certainly leaves me 'meh', but I still think he was misquoted and misinterpreted into an overtly sensationalist article
since forever? i don't know i'm not native https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/step-up first definition when used as transitive verb
words can mean more than one thing, we used to remember that
i don't know, from the rest of the quote it would seem to me like hes saying 'step up' not as in a 'get good' way but more in a 'come forward' kind of way. you know, considering he's talking about welcoming everyone? but what the fuck do i know, let's just get angry
I realize that's not the point, but just a few days ago I happened to see some of his paintings, and I mean they're at a hobbyist level at best, really documentary style kind of works, but even then he hadn't really mastered perspective and depth
THANK YOU BASED FRANKIE
god damn that was awful, on the plus side SZA is getting paid
i heard about 400 albums from 2017, whattup suckas
tactical mistake; they should've accused taylor swift instead, people seem to side with freedom of speech and all that when she sues for defamation
movie was shite, but not as shite as ep 7. while star wars has always been ripe with vacuous dialogues, hollow characters and cringe worthy jokes, i don't really recall there being a completely useless plot line in any of the other movies (i could be wrong here tho). at least it had driver's pecs in full force so there's that quite liked rogue one tho
fully talking out of my ass here, but I wouldn't think black lives matter is a pretext to let non-white people get away with doing shit, and is more of an acknowledgment of how different they're treated when they do
very different from pwr bttm, at least from my standpoint; the queer community probably and understandably took a bit of time to come to terms with the accusations, but the accusers didn't bring up the guy's queerness as a mitigating factor to his assaults. this lady on the other hand had her boobs grabbed and still thought she should give him a pass cause he's black. she just doesn't seem to know what she actually stands for, a common ailment
