man, ever since i heard nilufer yanya's baby luv over a year ago, i've been hungry for anything that used that guitar strumming in less conventional ways in weird pop music. and now my search is over, this is exactly what i've been starving for. thank you based noah
stoked to hear this one, friday gonna be guuuuud
huh, their debut was all the rage back in my primary school in portugal, so when 'everybody' came out it made perfect sense. then i stopped hearing about them and didn't realize until now that they actually got bigger from there. but of course my vision of the world was pretty narrow when i was 9. it still is, but it was back then too
this sounds exactly like i hoped it would, down to the drums slapping my face in the chorus
fat cheeto fingers will do that
shame that tom wrote this one, i was looking forward to reading about this albun
racist demonstrations, government shutdown, brexit anxiety, and a new pixies 2019 off to a shaky start
she's also touring europe - you know, that big piece of land to your east after the big water
the only track they've reviewed since december was ariana grande's seven rings; i'm hoping they'll pick it back up at some point, i enjoyed reading them and got acquainted with plenty of artists through those reviews

don't skip the undersea ep, so good
deerhunter, james blake, sharon van etten, steven gunn, lost under heaven we eating again fam
her intensity is undeniable, but just like most late night rock performances the sound came out pretty thin. anything with a little more fuzz just gets chopped out. they'd make kevin shields sound like the fucking smiths
i liked indigo much more than life of pause, just because it sounded way more overdriven and droney (see canyon on fire). admittedly he doesn't shift much but lately hes gone a bit more into dancey 80's indie pop which is right up my alley but yes, gemini is up there in the dream pop of this decade
tfw 2 artists you like turn out to be the same person
i guess it's pretty unlikely that beach house can put out 2 more great albums, so britney will stand alone with that record
these plebs deserved to be scammed and are not worthy of basking in the eternal light that is my shining intellect
i mean it was a good source to learn of new artists, and i always found their recommendations to hit more than miss. the write-ups were usually pretty good too
schreiber is gone, and pitchfork isn't even doing any more track reviews. with richardson out of there as well, that place is looking thinner everyday
thanks for the push i needed to revisit older callahan stuff. i'm more familiar with his more recent output and dream river is untouchable
EURO TOUR OR RIOT
pretty ambitious list of collaborators / influences. absolutely adore nothing feels natural and have them as my fave punk band in recent times. had them more pegged to the louder, rougher side of punk than to this post-punk vibe, but they've always been somewhere in the middle anyway. greer's voice great and mental as ever, and jaguar can get whatever the fuck sound he wants out of that guitar as usual. beyond stoked to hear what the rest of the record sounds like, and this track as well since my left ear is currently not functioning properly
well, you heard wrong still not worth to see it tho
oh shit, i forgot jenny hval who was preeeeetty great, and also ought who were at the tail end of a long tour and seemed a bit tired but still did their best at pleasing the crowd (i sang more than any other day at the top of my lungs as one does)
i don't remember the name of the guy who did the first half, but he legit stood on the stage, screamed and slapped himself. shit was intense
thanks to living in a small and populous country i can pretty much see whoever i want to see. only problem is it takes me over an hour of train to get to the big cities which can be a big ask after a work day. still, i think this was the year i saw the most shows 1) serpentwithfeet - great interaction, crowd loved it and his voice sounds even more impressive live 2) julia holter - 6 piece band, incredible tight given how complex the new record sounds. bonus points for how much fun she seemed to be having 3) jenny lewis - greatest hits kind of set, and even tho i'm only really familiar with the voyager it was probably the most fun show i've been to all year 4) haley heynderickx - love her record, and a very likeable and sociable stage presence other shows i enjoyed: low, hinds, vashti bunyan, grouper, helena deland, jess williamson
me, i thought it was dumb

sounds a bit overproduced to my ears, but conversations was pretty good so i'll probably give this a couple of spins when it comes out. thanks for the notice jimmy

i can't see the voting form - matter of fact i can't see much of the embedded content you post. is it because i'm european? we are people too!
Ok well I've heard maybe 10 of these so I can't say much about them; I have enjoyed a few other EPs no in there tho, namely Ravyn Lenae MorMor Peggy Gou Marcus Marr Petite Noir Smerz Sun Libra Klein and I probably wouldve included something from Helena Deland
