This album is WAY better than the reviews are saying. I LOVE the idea of Mitski making deliberately frumpy music. I think that’s where we are headed as a culture musically and I’m so excited for it. ❤️ Bless
Loving this ❤️ Bless
The underground black trans artist Kunt Pills does this fucking sound a million times better than her exhausting ass and if y’all bitches don’t start realizing there’s a whole SCENE of underground trans artists who are literally doing EVERYTHING MUSICALLY y’all wish this sellout still was, I swear to god ❤️ Bless https://kuntpillsxox.bandcamp.com/
One of the greatest artists and “real love” is one of her best songs yet ❤️ Bless
Ybb love ya friend but it’s so easy to find local communities of foragers nowadays on Facebook or whatever filled with people who—as long as you upload a good enough image showing the cap (both top and underneath) the stalk and the general habitat—literally get their rocks off telling you exactly what species of mushroom you have found. You would honestly probably be surprised at what mushrooms are possible to find in even urban greenspaces. All they need is dampness and decaying wood tissue or the right species of living trees to be parasitic off of. Obviously not as common as in like a national park or something. But like if birdwatchers can still find cool unique interesting birds inside a place like Central Park, I’m sure mushroom foragers can find edible ones as well. ❤️ Bless
Wren Dove Lark: at least one EP and at least one album for 2022. Possibly the sister album will be finished as well. Likely collab records with some of my friends incoming as well. Split EP with Fell From The Tree coming REAL SOON. ❤️ Bless
Why release the song before the fucking AI girl group is finished? The whole point of a girl group debut is so that fans can become acquainted with the girls. The song isn’t so good that it needed to be released before the actual art concept was done. In fact I don’t find it that good at all. It’s just a generic edm track with repetitive lyrics. Real girl group songs have vocal harmonies and solos where each girl can shine. I watched the video before reading the Instagram post and was like “Are the rotating polyhedrons the other girls? Because there’s only one girl who is literally just a repeating gif of her riding a horse.” Anyways it’s just another half-baked idea of hers, like everything she’s released since Art Angels, and even that one has lost its magic for me. Her music is boring and lifeless. There are underground transgender pop artists doing her sound WAY better. Their shit actually sounds like fucking AI pop music with a human touch. Grimes just phones it in. ❤️ Bless
Her album is just as much country as any of these bro country artists using drum machines and trap beats with vocal cadences they’ve ripped straight from Drake (who in turn ripped them from every up and coming rap and r&b artist he mimicked from 2013-2020) There are some people in this commentariat who struggle to accept it and may downvote me for it, but I’ll say it anyways. Whiteness, maleness, straightness, and cis-ness affords all these bro country artists freedom to “push boundaries” (in their case i.e., steal and appropriate sounds from traditionally black genres of music that are currently more zeitgeist-y than country) while still being considered rooted within the country genre they claim for themselves. That is because, as the country music industry often insinuates—sometimes overtly, sometimes subtly—cishet white manhood is a central tenet of being accepted within the country establishment. The few female artists it claims have to walk a way finer line than any of these dudes have to before they’re considered “pop”. (Re: an above comment referencing the daft punk influence on this album, idk how that’s any “less country” than any of these bro country artists who regularly make essentially conservative white hip hop music with twangy guitars.) Where even are black country artists accepted by the mainstream? Darius Rucker is pretty much it, minus Lil Nas X one time after Billy Ray went to bat for him. Any gay ones? Trans ones? I can’t think of any accepted by country’s gatekeepers. I’m not one to usually be on the side of a major label official, but this person makes a pointed observation that her exclusion from the country categories is totally sexism, whether overt on the part of the Grammys gatekeepers or not. Star-crossed exists in the country cannon equally as much if not more than the output from any contemporary male country artist. ❤️ Bless
Nothing more I respect than an artist unrestricted by genre boundaries. Instrumentally, some of these tracks in the beginning at least are really fascinating ❤️ Bless
I’m gonna listen to this on headphones before I have too concrete an opinion. I’m uncomfortable with Sia collabs since Music and the way she treated the autistic people who voiced their opposition to it. That aside, it’s her classic vocal style which I think sounds generally fine, but yeah it feels like it kind of restricts arca’s production style. But again I may hear more if I listen with headphones. But I so badly wish I had heard her sing the vocal in her amazing operatic voice. The lyrics are generally good for a Sia track. I think that must have been from her peak era of demos before her songs became very mid lyrically. I was just thinking about how if Katy Perry could have pulled this off vocally, this would have been one of her better ballads, far and above anything on Prism or Witness. But I’m so stoked for this one if it calls back to self titled! The collaborations sound really interesting as well! In theory, it’s cool to see an artist reworking an old (maybe forgotten) song/demo from another artist. Especially in the wake of all these lawsuits and the pressure for “new new new” from societally generally, it’s cool to see an artist as high caliber as Arca taking that approach bc it’s almost becoming a lost art. I just with she had chosen another artist’s song to do this with. ❤️ Bless
I have LOVED their past music, especially that last album but this is like “Dancing On My Own” level pop music. Brighter and catcher than anything you’ll hear on the radio or on a Spotify playlist. A CLEAR level up for them! ❤️ Bless
EXACTLY, both of you!!!! ❤️ Bless
Girlfriend, you are not copywriting my name lmao. The Wren Dove Lark double album slated for next year is the real Wrennaisance! Don’t be fooled by FAKE NEWS Blochead Industries! In all seriousness I’m excited for new Wrens and Aeon Station!! ❤️ Bless
The top 2 were good, but I was pulling for a Makthaverskan #1 ❤️ Bless
I’m with you Pads!!! It’s not golden hour, but there’s no way it could be. I don’t think Kacey’s forte is writing break up albums. It’s not a common subject matter that came up in her music previously outside of a couple songs here and there. I think this is an album she had to write to be able to write her next one. I think listening to the very minimally put together songs really highlights the likely headspace she was in writing them. My roommates and I have been jamming to it all week. “Justified” “Angel” “Cherry Blossom” and “Breadwinner” are among her best tracks IMO. ❤️ Bless
This has got to be the first time since SOPHIE that an album was made for both of us what a momentous occasion! This has instantly become one of my favorite songs of this year and one of the upcoming albums I’m most excited for! ❤️ Bless
God I love Kacey Musgraves SO FUCKING MUCH! I’m so glad I saw her live at Bonnaroo 2013 and I pray to god I can see her live again before too crazy much longer. This song is amazing she’s never met a hook she can’t DEMOLISH! ❤️Bless
Really loved what I heard on the first two livestreams, but now I’ve lost interest if he’s reverting back to this shit again. ❤️ Bless
*male pop stars You can pry Taylor and Olivia Rodrigo and Lorde and Rihanna and Beyoncé from my cold dead playlist 💖 Love ya Antigone ❤️ Bless
