It's so amazing see her here. I remember following her on instagram 2/3 years ago and she's still so genuine and so herself. She reminds me of all the bronx girls I went to school with and I love that. I hope 2018 is just as good to her
I think Swift. deserves to be included for that testimony, but the cover spot should've gone to Tarana Burke who's been advocating with #MeToo for years. Please, please look her up!
Rappers aren't really trained performers, maybe? So they don't have the stamina to do a whole show on their live vocals alone? Just a guess, I don't understand it either...
I don't think I'm delusional. Similar to how Taylor Swift partnered with AT&T, I think Jay partnered with Sprint because of each of the major carriers, that one fit his target demo the most. I don't think Sprint is thinking about black owned business at all, but if I were Jay and this was how I planned to release my album, I would choose a carrier where my work would resonate the most. When I mentioned the subscription, I was talking about the individual consumer, not Sprint as a corporation. Again, I don't think this release, nor the 2013 one was perfect, but ultimately I think his intentions were good and I don't think he's selling out.
Of each of the major cellphone carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) black people in inner cities predominantly use Sprint. And supporting a black business on a month to month basis through a subscription is more beneficial than a one time purchase of his album. This is bigger than just Jay's album or just Jay himself. The majority of artists that offer exclusives through Tidal are black. It's hardly a perfect system, but none of the streaming services are.
I saw him when he opened for Beyonce last year and I can confirm that he occasionally walks to and fro his dj booth, yells catch phrases, and brings out no less than 6 featured artists.
