Been wondering what FTBC song was going to be the one people pushed for year-end lists, and “Shameika” is definitely one of the best songs off that album. So many great songs to choose from. I’m still most blown away by “Cosmonauts” though.
The Pusha/Mavis Staples cut is on that upper level too. But yes, I’m enjoying this collection the most I’ve enjoyed a Gorillaz project since Plastic Beach. Humanz and The Now Now both felt uneven to me. That Beck cut is one of the catchiest tracks either artist has put out in years.
Have we discussed Lamentations yet? That one is quickly rising the ranks. And I’m not the only one that hears some of the melody of “Mad World” in that one, am I?
“Make Me An Offer I Cannot Refuse” is his best opener? Seriously asking, because right now I think it is. Listened to it in bed with the lights out last night and fell in love with it. I enjoy “Die Happy” but I can see why that one has its detractors. The album really hits its stride in the second half. I think I saw bakedbeans say it in another post and I have to agree those last five songs are just incredible, The Ascension being one of the best songs he’s ever recorded.
We hear “Diamonds” completely differently. It reminds me of “Promises” which I loved. Their best in a long time. And was hoping for this week to touch on the new Ava Max album! Was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Liked the singles but honestly expected the rest to be filler, which the majority aren’t.
Some weird stuff happening in journalism this year; updating a profile with new quotes after publication because of an uproar from BTS fans just seems strange, and that’s on top of that story a couple weeks ago about the author of a profile on Chrissy Teigan getting hired by her midway through writing the piece. What the hell’s going on here?
I loved Club Future Nostalgia and how everything was mixed together, but this new set with the extended versions is wonderful. Love we get the full version of “That Kind of Woman,” plus that Zach Witness remix of “Good In Bed” was my most pleasant surprise. Great stuff all around.
Up at 1 am jamming to this. “Boys Will Be Boys” is a bop now! “Love Is Religion” is excellent. The whole thing is mixed great; Blessed Madonna and the remixers all did great work.
Can’t remember hearing that one live, but the Killers at Hangout fest (the year OutKast reunited) was the moment I remember jumping back on the bandwagon. One of the best live acts we got going. Not enough people mention them in those discussions!
I checked out after “Human” was released (“Spaceman” is still incredible, though) but this is genuinely great. Without doubt the best thing they’ve done since Sam’s Town. Can’t wait to spend more time with this one, which is absolutely not something i would have thought I’d be saying about a Killers album in 2020.
No doubt this is going to sound amazing. Most excited for the Yaeji remix and the Good In Bed remix, mainly to see how “Buffalo Dance” is sampled into it.
That’s the same week as the VP debate so that will be a beautiful couple of days: getting this album and seeing Kamala Harris absolutely wrecking Pence on national tv. Something to look forward to.
Balance put them on my radar but Singles was really when I started to pay attention. This one honestly reminds me of Balance, obviously slower, but damn that melody shines bright. Always a wonderful band and definitely don’t get the consideration they deserve when discussing best active bands.
I accidentally played the edited version and just went with it and I’ll never recover from them changing it to “wet and gushy” for the children.
Fruit Gushers got their new jingle.
People are downvoting this but Buddhists are notorious for not respecting each and every life.
Joking aside, how does anyone think treating life “with dignity, equity, justice and joy” is a strictly Christian concept?
So the list I saw isn’t confirmed but she at least has Missy and Madonna on “Levitating” and Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson on “Physical.” If the rumors are true, Kylie Minogue and Röyksopp on “Hallucinate” and “Cool” with Charlie Puth, to name a couple others. Whatever we get, I’m ready!
Between this and the news of the Future Nostalgia remix album (seriously, that list of features is stunning!) there’s not much more my gay heart can take.
Cocoa Hooves and Black Mambo from the same album are great. But yeah Gooey is their classic. Heat Waves from their new album is probably my favorite. Tokyo Drifting is so out of left field (with a Denzel Curry feature no less!) I didn’t like it at first but it’s grown on me a lot since my fist play.
For me, that’s only half the lyric: “I’ve been meaning to tell you, I think your house is haunted. Your dad is always mad and that must be why.” It’s such a chilling line, and ties into the theme of childhood innocence she sang about a lot early on in her career.
Couldn’t go wrong with any Swift at the top spot to be honest. “Seven” is an absolute highlight. And also, 7+15=22. That has to be intentional on her part? New Billie Eilish is where it’s at. Love that one. “Over and Over” from that Jessy Lanza album was on repeat this week too.
Listening to the Chainsmokers is now more hazardous to your health than chain-smoking. I thought that was the case, but it’s nice to have solid evidence.
