I know they're probably not to people who read this site but the more time goes by, the more I think this band is one of the most underrated of my lifetime. Because everything they do is cool and unique and somehow they're not top line at major festivals yet. Anyway love this band, love Civilian
Yeah, weird caching thing I think? Ctrl+F5 for us Windows normies forces a refresh and brings new posts up, but not sure why a regular ol' refresh isn't doing the trick lately
Sometimes you just know when a song or album is going to stick with you forever, and Historian will be one of my all-time favorite albums until I expire
Gem of an album. Fond memories of being behind Jenn (and Andy I think) in line for coffee at the Chelsea Market around 2013 and being too shy to thank them for how enjoyable I thought Civilian was. Jenn and Andy if you see this please accept my thanks now
It's helpful to have the lyrics handy since some words can be a little hard to discern and they're all pretty important to the central theme:

I like telling anyone who'll listen that Cristin and I did theater together back in high school, and you could tell even as a teenager that she was just Different from the rest of us in the best way. She played Eponine when we did Les Mis and it was truly like a pro on a HS stage. Glad she's getting more singing out there
Getting pretty strong Department of Eagles vibes from "One More Afternoon" and "On the Page," which is not I thing I think I expected to say about Maggie Rogers songs

As always, a big chunk of this list has albums I never would've listened to were it not for SG writers and commenters. Thanks for keeping me fresh
8 (circle) always struck me as a song that wouldn't be possible without Beth/Rest coming before it, and it has just the right remastering tweaks to the drama & emotion knobs. I'm sad to see it missed this cut but it's hard to argue with the ones that made it
I realize TNOCS and classic 'Gum don't cross streams very often but I just wanted to pop in to say one thing:
In a day or twoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
And from her Bandcamp: "It also marks a sonic shift, with the songwriter's intimate piano and guitar arrangements newly enriched by bass, drums, keyboards, banjo, and mandolin with nearly all of the instruments performed by Baker"
Never in a million years would've thought to pair these two, but the original Love's Refrain is breathtaking and Julie Byrne is captivating so it turns out to be a pretty easy sell!
Always a good sign for the artist when a piece on their new music has to justify its own existence in the first couple sentences, and definitely an even better sign when one of those sentences still plainly says how bad it is
Looks like ol' Shane decided to do a Facebook link'n'login just to share his illuminating thoughts with us. Consider the privilege of his presence before calling him a troll
We must discuss. Is it a single? A Zoom performance with Ben and Jimmy? Actually an album?? This + The Antlers has been just a massive reunion day so far
