I'd like to think the withering of Cardi worship in the music press has something to do with her almost proud admittance of drugging and robbing men in her past, but the reality is she's just getting closer to her expiration date.
And that's coming from someone who was fawning over Hannah Hunt as little as two months ago, so this spite is fresh and particularly bitter.
See, you're half right. That was an accurate way to describe them when they burst onto the scene over a decade ago, although they did possess shades of both substance and attitude. Now they've blossomed into what they were always meant to be: music for middle-aged white people with child(ren) who live ultimately satisfying lives but must maintain a pretense of involvement with the rest of the world for a few more years before they finally climb into that pine box known as "contentment". Gee, kinda like Mumford & Sons fans!
It astounds me how stupid Kodak Black is.
I can't think of a beverage that matters more than water, and I'm a career alcoholic.
Thom Yorke?? Something Dystopia-themed? I don't buy it.
Don't forget My Love. And while I think the timing is odd, he's most definitely an icon of the 21st century and deserves that particular award as much as anybody.
Was that the band whose bassist got dragged to death after a gig?? That was fucked up.
Great to hear something new from her, that S/T is an underrated gem.
I wrote some stuff about Sublime yesterday (feels like a week ago), and if you replaced that band name with Tool it would perfectly sum up my feelings. I realize a new album is a HUGE deal to a lot of people, but I just can't be arsed.
I played Making A Killing an awful lot in '04. Kinda thought I was the only person that even liked that album.
Sublime is a band I would never listen to of my own accord, but do not have head so far up ass to deny their appeal or to act as if they aren't a part of my musical DNA. Like a lot of classic rock from the 70's, they have their place and that place is drunken gatherings with people who fondly remember the 20th century.
The days of Paul's Boutique are far behind us. If you want to make $$$ from sampling then you've got to pay. If you don't want to pay, they you can release it for free. How this is angering or even confusing to anybody is beyond my comprehension, although Logic always seemed like an outside-looking-in type of dude in hip hop to me.
Yes. The above user has a gross misunderstanding of what fair use means and appears to think intellectual property rights are inconsequential as well.
It seems he's channeling his inner weirdo into the visual aspect these days, which admittedly is working to great effect but does not distract from the languid sameyness of the material.
I just wonder if the kid realizes he's being milked dry before he gets banished to One Hit Wondersville by the time he can legally drink.
This theory might hold more water if the current reigning #1 didn't also, in fact, totally suck.
I'm loving the snippets and very much in for this. I hope there's more Cherry Bomb vibes on this. As good as SFFB is, I like my Tyler productions more on the dirty side.
I would love to hear a stripped-down, mostly live Albini produced affair from her (which, given her direction with Masseduction, seems increasingly less likely).
It makes me deeply uncomfortable to see the term "meme" being used in any way to describe something from the 90's. Please refrain from ever doing that again.
I want you to remember that there was a moment in life when you referred to a Vampire Weekend album as "impressively multi-cultural".
This is the correct take and GOOD LUCK explaining it to the leagues of adoring obsessives.
I appreciate that they decided to go with such a wince-inducing, self-absorbed album cover because it saves me the inconvenience of ever pressing play on one of their songs.
Also, I'd just like to add that Touched By Comfort is indeed one of the most absolutely fucking beautifully steadfast, sun-rising-over-the-treetops, life affirming, yes ALL IS AWESOME AND SO ARE YOU songs of the decade, if not the century.
Pile is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy.
Have not yet watched the show, but goddamn! they are pulling some serious talent for these musical numbers.
Dammit, there's room in ones heart for both Irish and Welsh spit-slingers, is theren't?
I drank a gallon of coffee, snorted 30mg of Adderall in one line and ran a 5K and I still couldn't keep up. Very hot shit.
That's gonna be a good one.
I don't know man, Mess into Magic is like kryptonite, and I mean that in the best way.
I fucking hate that stupid word "incel" and I really, really wish internet people would stop using it so damned often. Also, it indeed is a great song as absolutely everybody that heard it in the 90s will tell you, and if you can say you've never felt that way about a spurned relationship before then you can congratulate yourself for officially denying your right to be a stupid human.
LOVE Silverman but I'd like to draw attention to Lonely Avenue, his 2010 collab with Nick Hornby. Doc Pomus, in particular, is some of the best songwriting I think he's ever done.
All these years of not being a Grimes fan are really starting to pay off.
Very transparent and I don't believe it's intentional. This is why you don't allow art kids think they're geniuses.
Flames. I don't know how they pulled off that DOYS flip but they did.
I bet that sounded a lot more clever in your head.
